Love the Vibro Champ

This amp is pretty versatile. The tubes make it very responsive. The voice selection and gain/preamp volume is a little confusing but you learn how to find a good tone. The effects are great; reverb, tremolo, delay, chorus, and vibratone. My favorite is vibratone. The 5 watts obviously is not very loud but a good cab could easily fix that because it has line out. Overall you can't find a better one for the price. Or for a higher price, for that. matter

I am really enjoying this amp. Now, I own several solid state modelling amps and have enjoyed them. I am not going to be playing out, so haven't needed much more, but always wanted to explore an analog amp. I bought this gem after watching some reviews (John Grimsley- yay!)on youtube. I am having a blast with the different models and it's plenty loud for my den. Not for the purists, but perfect for this hounddog.

Unbelievable practice amp!

I gotta say, this is most definitely a step up from a solid state practice amp. I sold my Cube 15X, and i am not regretting it. For anyone who is starting out, or who wants a solid home practicing and recording amp, this or the super champ is the way to go. The speaker is fine as it is, though many might want to change it. I am no guitar guru, but i know what good sounds like. It makes my squire come alive (or maybe it's just a good squire)! For a beginner, this is more than enough to keep you hooked on guitar. It covers most styles quite well. For 1-3 on the voice knob it's those old tweed/bassman tones that are quite thick; 4-6 are those blackface-type 'twin reverb' tones that you hear in surf/60's/country.

*Old guys will enjoy 1-6.*

7-9 are some rockin' distorted British tones. 8 is one of the best; the early Marshall stack. 10-13 are some nice hot rod tones. With a humbucker, they sound muffled. But with a single coil... SRV!! 13-14 are some metal tones, great sustain. 15 is an interesting very warm jazzy tone. 16 is like a VG stratocaster sound on acoustic. The effects are quite good as well, and are fun to tinker with, though the controls aren't infinite (price).

You may think this is a small, quiet amp, but baby when cranked these 5, class A, tube watts go a LONG way.

I hate to say it, but best for money

The reason I "hate to say it", is because I hate it when people say that about amps. Usually they're just snobs, but when I say it, it is the best for the money. It plays like a much more expensive amp: You can get some of the most sought after sounds. I got it for the clean, Fender, tube sound. Normally, I like solid states, but Fender Deluxe and Vibroluxes floor me: That's what I wanted. Of course, I'll buy one of those, but these get you the same sound with this, just on a lower scale due to the 8 inch amp, which can be fixed with my 4x12 cab.

Small, Versatile, Great Amp

I've been playing for 40+ years. This is the best small amp I've ever owned. You can dial in any sound you want quickly without a whole bunch of foolishness. If you prefer simplicity you will love this amp. I tried the Super Champ XD, and found that driving the 5 watts had better sound and again much less confusing. I don't think you need the 2 channels. You can easily control the sound with your volume controls.
