I bought this amp when they were running their 20% off deal in October, so the price was right. So paying a great price for it The amp has exceeded my expectations. Great tone from all channels. The clean channel working with peddles produces great results. The 25 / 100 watt switch is a nice feature. As all Fender Amps it is built tough. I can see this amp as one I'll use for many years. If you want a great powerful amp this is the one!

Gigged for many years with this amp...

My only complaint EVER about this amp has been the weight- it is about 80lbs! Gigged-out three nights a week for many years with this amp (Pro Tube 2001 model), so I was always on a quest to find the same amp in a smaller package because, frankly, I'm a musician and lazy by nature. (I did try the Pro Tube Pro Reverb and did not like as much as the Twin). I was sick of hauling it around. I've owned a Vibro King, which sounded great but was also too heavy and not nearly as versatile as the Twin. I kept wanting to buy into the idea that since the Vibro King was a PTP amp, there was no way the Twin could sound better. But it did to me. I also went through three Deluxe Reverbs- two silverfaces and a reissue. The silverfaces were both retubed, blackfaced, etc, and none of them were nearly as versatile or sounded as good to me as the Twin. So I sold them all. I will NEVER sell that Twin. A couple of things about this amp I've found: It comes from the factory biased cold. I always biased it a little hot. Went through tubes a little quicker, but tone is worth it, isn't it? Also, there are a couple of ribbon cable wiring harnesses in the amp where oxidation will build up on the connections- this happens to all electrical connections that aren't hard-wired or soldered. Unplug and reseat connections a couple of times to clean oxidation off every few years. Probably not an issue if you don't gig steady with it. I found the distortion channel to be excellent in this amp once it is biased a little hotter than specs. Fender biases all of their amps cold. I personally used the distortion channel all the time, as well as a Tonebone Hot British and Tubescreamer through the clean channel. I used the effects loop for delay and a clean boost pedal. The only other amp I like as much, which seems to take pedals just as well, but sadly can't hang volume-wise, is my silverface Princeton Reverb. It's the closest thing to a Twin in a little package I've found. (Much warmer than a Deluxe). It's hard to say which one I love more, but it's easy to decide which one I feel more comfortable and confident playing-out with and depending on. It's the Twin. For clarification- the distortion channel easily exceeds the gain of a Tubescreamer. However, the Tonebone Hot British has more gain on tap than the Twin distortion channel. (Used pedal for a couple of the heavier 3rd set stuff). The reverb and tremelo are also great on this amp. Comparable to my Princeton. However, when 25 watt 1/4 power switch is engaged, the tremelo and reverb are not as deep and lush as at full power. With the number of features available on this amp, I don't know why anyone would choose a Twin Reverb Reissue over the Pro Tube Twin.

I was a Marshall fan until I heard this thing, It really impressed me how loud this amp can be without distorting or making any funny noise. The Amp is pretty heavy itself, but it`s worth its weight in gold.

This is the Real Thing

The Twin Amp delivers 3-D cleans and unbelievable driven tone. If you want a pro-quality combo that excels in classic rock or blues tone, this is the amp. Screaming humbuckers or soft-spoken single coils, both sound great through this amp. As others have stated, you have to invest a few minutes to understand how to use the controls, but that time spent will pay big dividends! The Twin Amp loves effects and sounds best running them right into the clean channel or through the effects loop - I almost never use the overdrive channel. This is not a bedroom amp - even at 1/4 power it will rattle the windows. Sounds marginal when forced to play at low volume - that's not what it was made to do...needs to be played at least half-way up the dial to really start to sing... but if you have the opportunity to play it wide open at either 1/4 or full power...WOW! Bottom line - spend the money on this amp...you will be glad you did. No, I don't work for Fender!

As good as it gets...

I have been using this amplifier now for three years, and have yet to bang up against it's limits. In my opinion, this is the most versatile unit that Fender ever made. It is very much loud enough to handle gigs, even if the drummer is a steroid abuser, and it records beautifully. As opposed to most of the older Fender amps, the tone stack actually does what it should, and careful attention to settings will allow the user to emulate brownface, blackface, and silverface tones. For ultimate tweaking, the clean channel has a gain select pushpull, allowing the user to dial in just the right amount of coloration. The effects loop is very fine, noiseless and will drive effects as hard as necessary for excellent results. I have seen the complaints about the distortion channel, apparently these users do not understand how to use it properly. At middle settings, it is an overdrive reminiscent of old tweeds, and as the drive goes up, the sound becomes muddy and indistinct. When front-ended with an overdrive or distortion box, a little treble boost will get all the dirt needed for any style of music, and adjustment of the eq and drive will tailor the tone to any application. Because of the wide tonal variety available, the eq and drive settings are very important, and diming every knob will not yield a great tone, it is not a Marshall. However, if you know what you want from it and are willing to take the time to utilize it's features, it will make you happy.
