Blonde, Back Blonde, Close Angle Blonde, Angle

Originally conceived as a model that could've been made during the halcyon days of the early '50s (Fender didn't begin building thinline guitars until 1968), the Custom Telecaster Thinline guitar was recently designed by the Fender Custom Shop's Senior Master Builder. This guitar has been given Fender's "Relic" treatment - built to show years of natural wear and tear; with nicks, scratches, worn finish, rusty hardware, and aged plastic parts. Alder body, one-piece maple neck/fretboard, and vintage alnico-magnet pickups give it classic Fender tone with added resonance from the body cavity.

Fender Custom Shop Custom Shop Custom Classic Telecaster Thinline Relic Nocaster Electric Guitar Features:

  • Alder body
  • One-piece maple neck/fretboard
  • Vintage alnico single-coil pickups
  • 25-1/2" scale
  • Thinline body with cavity and soundhole
  • Relic treatment

Light and super comfortable to play. I am currently playing through a Mesa Electra Dyne amp and this guitar effortlessly sings through the mix, from clean to high-gain Brit. tones.

An additional benefit is the 'f" cut-out which allows me to clearly hear the unplugged guitar.

Get one while you can.

This guitar does it all for me. It is fantastic for blues and very very playable pick it up you wont want to put it down simple as that. I have A 68 Gibson Byrdland, A Master salute Strat, a 74 LesPaul standard and a 64 ES330 but of all of my Guitars this one whilst not the most expensive is the one I'd part with last.

Seriously Versatile Telecaster!!

Great Telecaster! You can play almost anything on this particular model (No Metal really, of course you can always try). Never ceases to amaze me when playing a new song, and its so good to look at too. I always get plenty of questions and compliments. I play in two live bands and cover almost every genre and style you might think of. I play rock/blues and this thing shines through the mix, funk/R&B are blistering, some country/rockabilly and it practically bursts into flames. The semi-hollow factor lends some truly mellow tones for jazz and I’ve now played along some fine jazz players who’ve looked in astonishment asking, “is that really a telecaster?” Lots of tone, great sustain and ice-twangy bends when you need them too. Sounds beautiful for just playing whatever. This Fender Custom Shop is a seriously great tone machine for any Telecaster lover looking for something just a little bit different and with that extra umph!! The quality of workmanship is outstanding and the resulting product worth every penny.

No question about it; this is a beautiful guitar. I tried one out at a Fender "Trunk Show" at the local GC and fell totally in love. The neck was the nicest Fender neck I've ever played. The pickups had that classic vintage sound through a Blues Deluxe amp and the Thinline body made this much more comfortable than the Nocaster relic I A/B'ed it with. As I said, I fell in love with the guitar. I did NOT fall in love with the price tag and eventually settled for a MIM '72 Thinline reissue. But, had I had the money to afford it, this would've been what I bought. Get it if you love Teles and have the dinero.

The Harry Turtledove Telecaster

For those of you unfamiliar with the reference, Harry Turtledove writes "alternative history"; for example, what would have happened if the South had won the Civil War or aliens had invaded Earth during the middle of World War II. To Tele fanatics, this guitar is every bit as intriguing a concept. I played one today and am in love. It slays my '52 Reissue and also slays the standard '51 Nocaster relic I A/B'd it with. The neck is one of the best Tele necks I've ever experienced. It was exactly wide enough and fat enough. The Thinline body is much better balanced than a normal Tele body and the pickups are Fender vintage heaven, especially through the Blues Deluxe I played it through. The relic job wasn't too intense which is OK with me as I think relic-ing is just silly. It still loses a half-point on features for the relic job. Fender should also offer this as a Closet Classic and NOS for those of us who don't appreciate bogus wear and tear and prefer a clean, new-looking instrument. I'd still spring for this in a second if I had the money, though.
