The Fender Super Champ XD amplifier enters a new era by combining a real tube amp with up-to-date extras like versatile amp voicing and a wide palette of quality effects. There's no limit to the number of tones that can be coaxed from this little firecracker. Use the Super Champ XD amp to really bring your practice and recording sessions alive.

The Fender Super Champ guitar amp of the early 1980s was an up-to-the-minute take on the venerable Fender Champ amplifier. It contained a powerful 10" speaker—large for a Champ—its all-tube overdrive capabilities were further enhanced by the inclusion of genuine Fender reverb. Bottom line, it had incredible gain and volume in a compact package—a real surprise for guitarists who were accustomed to hauling much larger amps to the studio or rehearsal hall.

Very Impressed!

Like a lot of pro players, I was tired of lugging around heavy tube amps to small clubs or practice to get a great sound. Tried several low wattage amps in the store and the salesmen told me to try the Super Champ XD. I did and bought it on the spot. The next day I played with my classic rock band outdoor on a large fishing trawler and everyone including many of the musicians there couldn't believe the what a firecracker it was! Later played a club and it was maxxed out for the entire nite. I love Fender products and this is a great amp.

Great little amp. Have had two of them for over a year. Son has used it in small gigs in auditoriums at school and it performed great. I liked it so much I bought a second one for myself. Great little practice amp.

Big sound for a small amp

I've owned this amp for about 6 monthes now. I was in the market for a small tube amp. I was pretty much set on buying a Peavy Valveking 1x12. But the salesman insisted that I tried this amp out before I made up my mind. After playing through this amp for awhile I realized I could do alot more with this one. Not to mention that the clean channel was just awesome. So I brought the SCXD home for about $100.00 less than the Peavy and am completely happy with my decision. I have to admit that I'm fan of 80's metal and with a tube change I can really achieve that sound. I know that many people swap the speaker out with an Emenance Rajan Cajan. But I like to use a 1x12 cab loaded with an Emenance Texas Heat. I also use a Boss MT-2 distortion pedal to achieve a nice metal crunch. If your looking for a total "heavy metal" amp, you might want to check out the Peavy or Line 6. This amp suits your rock 'n roll, blues and jazz. It's a well rounded hybred amp.

i have had this amp for about a week and am liking it very well. But i also just ordered a boss me-20 multieffects pedal to accompany it. How does this amp sound with effects going through it and on what voice and f/x settings would a multi effect processor sound the best on?

Super Champ XD Rules Its Class

Having read many reviews of this amp, I must jump in and write my first gear review. I bought mine not too long after they appeared on the market. It was just what I was after in terms of clean Fender tones at low wattage. Most satisfying. But I was at first disappointed with the overdrive selections. Alas, I have found that was due to my own poor understanding of the potential within this amp. I have since learned to keep the gain settings low (2-4) and the volume setting in the 7-8 range. This unleashes the awesome, twisted, harmonically rich, chest thumping overdrive potential of this amp. Hot power amp tubes are always the key to great overdrive tones, so look into these settings, and you will find that this amp can satisfy all of your sonic desires. The amp is also remarkably quiet for a Fender amp. I now drive a 2x12 cab loaded with Vintage 30s with this amp, and I have installed an Eminence Patriot speaker and Electro Harmonix tubes. But most importantly, I have learned to tame the gain and boost the power tubes with the volume control.
