Reviewer's Play Style: Classic Rock, trying some Jazz
First, this guitar was backordered, then it was discontinued, but I finally received it about a week ago! I'm still developing my overall impression, but here are some observations you might find helpful -

I chose this guitar as an inexpensive backup...something that I could leave around and pick up to play or practice whenever the mood struck me, but still plug in when I wanted some effects and power. Please keep in mind that this is a Fender-branded guitar manufactured in China with plastic/fiberglass/composite back and sides. Also keep in mind that the body depth is just 3 inches. The electronics are Fender's "entry-level" quality for an acoustic-electric. All that being said, I really like this thing! It has a smaller body (Tele style)and plays well for its intended purpose. The tone is what I would call "sharp" or "brassy"...remember that it is only 3" deep and has non-wood back and sides! It reminds me of the sound a somewhat muffled resonator would have. An all-wood guitar would have much better tone, but again...for what it is, this thing does a good job. Unamplified, I think the sound is loud, but not warm. It certainly projects it's sound, but without depth. Amplified, it's another story. By fiddling with your onboard EQ and external amp settings, this little guitar is capable of some great tones! Running it through a Fender reverb amp is a blast! I'm still exploring all the combinations. The Standard Telecoustic looks great, plays well, and is fully up to gigging in small bars/clubs...but there are some drawbacks. The action is somewhat high and I don't care for the string guage that came with it. They are good quality d'Addarios, but they're too fat. I think I'm going to restring it with some slightly skinnier strings (which will actually raise the action a touch), then compensate with a slightly shorter saddle (which should bring the action back down). Neither of these shortcomings makes this guitar unplayable, but addressing them will make it more comfortable to play (lotsa string friction/noise on the lower E and A strings). Again, I like this guitar for what it is...an inexpensive backup that has some great potential. Don't expect it to be a concert-hall instrument, because it will never be. But...to me, it is an inexpensive, fun guitar that is great for practice, jamming with friends, and even small venue gigging. Oh yea, the onboard tuner functions well as long as you're close. Tune by ear, then get it tight with the tuner. This has been kinda long, but I hope it helps your decision making. Want more observations? Contact by e-mail

First of all, I am mainly a jazz guy, so when I as looking for acoustic, I wanted an axe that felt like my trusty electric.

This thing sounds amazing for its size! Incredibly easy to play and the electronics sound great.

If you are an electric player looking for an acoustic, this is your axe.

Sure, it may not cut it in loud venues unamplified, but great sound for a small axe.
