I purchased this guitar a while ago from MF and I have to say, in nearly a decade of guitar playing, this is one of my favorites. The sound is amazing, plugged in or not, and in one word I would say that it's just comfortable. Right out of the box it felt like it belonged in my hands. Definately worth it, at any level!!

first of all, let me tell you that i am a gibson guy. i own a les paul junior and 3 sg's. The reason i bought this tele was because of its playability. i was worried that i wouldnt get enough power out of it, but i was wrong. this is the most versatile guitar i have ever played. it can go from sweet, soft clean tones to screaming overdrive. another thing is it plays and feels just like an american tele. the only thing thats wrong with it are the pickups are a little muddy but that can be fixed easily. this guitar is a great investment.

I have a 2005 special run in Electron Blue, so a couple of things are a little different, like the size of the volume and tone knobs. Other than that everything is pretty much the same.
The neck is thicker than any Ibanez I've ever played on, so if you really want to shred on this one you'll have to work at it.
The bridge pickup has that nice glassy sound that just screams country/bluegrass. It's not hum cancelling so you do get a bit of hum, even on clean channels, but it's still very articulate and even warm at some points.
Middle position is very interesting. I haven't heard anything else quite like it except on a tele. It's got a bit of glass from the bridge, but the neck pickup gives it a nice pop to compliment very well. I can only say that you'll have to try this out yourself to really hear what it sounds like.
The neck is perfect for some dirty blues solos, or clean jazz as well.
The volume is very responsive, there's not a "dead zone" where it doesn't do anything, it's a full sweep from 0 to 10.
The tone control really lets you define your sound . You can full on play, or pull back and turn it down a bit for a little mellow in your playing.
It's a great guitar that covers many different genres, not just country. Set it between the pickups, tone all the way down, and you get smooth flowing jazz tones good for soloing, and for chording in the neck.
You can also get some great blues tones, and even heavy metal if you spend enough time to tweak the controls.
Overall it's a great axe that won't let you down, no matter what style you happen to be playing in.

I Like this guitar. i really do. it just isn't reliable enough. some days it will hold it's tune just fine, but on most day's you play a chord, and it goes out of tune. get the american standard telecaster instead.

I got this guitar for my birthday in august of 2009 used and it's one of the most reliable, versatile guitars on the market. i have a 2003 model. it's beautiful. mine has a rosewood fretboard and a black body with a black pick guard. mine was upgraded with american pickups and hardware. i use it for every gig i play at. You WILL NOT i repeat WILL NOT regret this purchase. Best tele for the price. ( I run it through an American Peavey studio pro 112.)
