I love this guitar! The neck plays near effortlessly, and the humbucker kills with distortion. The soul and tone from this guitar cannot be matched by anyone, and the price is right.

I almost cried when my wife bought this guitar because I really wanted an "American" strat! After plugging this in and playing for 10 minutes I fell in love with it! (Then I was crying with joy!) The neck is fast, it looks absolutely great and I love the fender single coil sound I get out of it. My other guitars are Les Paul, and Ibanez so I have enough humbuckers but I like that sound so much I did not want to give it up with a Fender. (hence the HSS) I gave it a 4.5 on Features because the humbucking pickup is bright and not as low and growly as I like. (I will probably replace it someday but some friends gave me lots of compliments on the leads that come out of that) Buy this guitar!

i just bought this guitar only a few weeks ago, and i fell in love with it. its got an amazing tone for the clean, and get a get sound on distortion. i can play anything from the chili peppers to metallica on this guitar, its amazing. ive been a les paul guy for a long time, but this has completely changed my opinion on guitars.

Standard Strat

I have owned a Standard Strat in Arctic white, rose board for about a year now. I also own an older 95 Amstd. Both have their virtues, both have their flaws.

I see from other reviews that people immediately mod these guitars due to their apparent lineage. I have never done anything to mine other than set it up, put intonation to spot on and wailed.

One particularly surprising item is the neck. It plays very well as it arrives. I have a McCarty that plays effortlessly, the standard strat plays very close, more so than my AMstd, which in reality is a bit of a pain to play.

I would recommend this guitar for beginners, and advanced alike. Beginners will not suffer from crappy guitar syndrome and give up prematurely, seasoned players will recognize it for what it is, a solid and playable guitar out of the case.

Several common stratocaster flaws are apparent, the whammy bar is eternally loose in its threads, teflon tape, or the spring will help.

The ceramic pickups are "different", they will distort a bit easier, but the cleans are glassy and warm.

Don't buy this expecting an Anderson or Suhr, that's not the target market. Buy this if you are a seasoned warrior with expensive axes you don't want to risk on stage, or because it's a workhorse.

Great Strat for the Price

I haven't had a Strat in my guitar arsenal for 10 years. When I play out with my band, my main guitars are a Les Paul and a PRS singlecut. I picked up one of these MIM Strats for a great price and really love playing it. It's doesn't have that "chuggy chunk" sound that my high-end single cuts give, but the single coil Fender signature tone makes up for it. I wanted to share with you some quick and relatively inexpensive upgrade tips to improve this guitar: I changed the string gauge to .10s, then I installed an additional "T" piece on the headstock for the D/G strings. I think it gives better alignment and overall looks better. I also purchased and installed Graphtech bridge saddles (the brushed steel ones with the graphite coating the ridges). String breakage now non-existent, holds tune better, and looks WAY better as well. Finally I installed straplocks. Basically I spent about $75 additional dollars and this guitar looks/sounds like the $1200 American ones.
