I recently purchased this guy after sitting on the choice between the Fender Standard Strat, Fender American Standard Strat, and the Epiphone Standard Les Paul Plug Top. I played all three over and over again. After finally deciding that I didn't want to buy something that i have to work on, I decided the les paul wasn't a good choice. The les pauls action was incredibly rough and the sound wasn't as great as they advertise. So now its American or MIM strat.

The american was beautiful and had the name to go with the guitar. They both had great action and sound right out of the box. Both were as smooth as butter, and both had great sound. The strings on the MIM were not lined up as well as the ones on the American (little detail). And the MIM did have a little buzzing which i found was a fix i was going to do no matter what guitar i got which was replace the pickups. Now that i have done that and restrung the guitar i could not tell a difference. So i returned the American one and got a return (yes i bought both to test :). Now i have saved a lot and am thinking of using that money i saved to get the epiphone anyway(cause its just so sexy looking)

OVERALL: Buy the MIM don't waste money on american, barely a difference. you are mostly buying the number on the head and the words american. And a little more detail.

VIVA LE FENDER.

I purchased this guitar played it at church and the next day the bridge lifted up in the back after changing the strings, very dissapointing. I am sure it was just one who got by without a good looking over. It is a beautiful sounding and looking guitar but I am not sure if I will go this price range again.
