The Fender Road Worn '50s Telecaster is an electric guitar that delivers killer aged look, feel and mojo without breaking the bank. This is a Tele that was designed using 1950s specs augmented by Tex-Mex pickups and 6105 frets.

Like classic cars or your favorite T-shirt, some things just get cooler with age. That's especially true of electric guitars—they develop an unmistakable mojo over time that makes them look even cooler and feel even more comfortable than when they were brand new. In that regard, the Fender Road Worn '50s Telecaster is a true player.

I picked one up at a local music store and couldn't put it down. So I bought it. I'm so tired of people saying you should wear a guitar out yourself. The truth is that most of us work all day and could only wish we had the time to do that. Most of us only play for enjoyment and don't gig 4 times a week, some of us don't gig at all. It would take us 200 years to wear a guitar out. As far as the wear marks all looking the same.........who cares! Don't the brand new '52 reissues all look the same too???? One thing is for certain, no two pieces of wood look that same so they are all going to be different in some way. So, if you like it and want it and can afford it then buy it. The bottom line is, it looks, feels, plays and sounds like a telecaster. Make your own decision, I did and I'm having a blast with mine and I'm glad I own one. Go and get yours before they're all gone!

The Fender Road Worn Telecaster is an outstanding instrument. I bought one a few weeks ago and I'm loving it. This guitar is great NOT because of the road worn look but because of the road worn FEEL. I've been playing for 28 years (fifteen professionally) and this guitar slips right by the uncomfortable stiff feeling of many new guitars. The Tex Mex pickups ad just the right punch and tone. If you're a real player and feel and tone override a flashy appearance I highly recommend. It's a player's guitar. I love it.

The Poser

If you want to own a guitar that looks like you play 300 nights a year, buy one new and practice it until you are playing 300 nights a year.

The guitar I played had the quality of any other guitar. There was nothing about this guitar that made it worth more than the original MIM tele they started with. When you try to re-sell this guitar to hide your shame, you will not be recovering the premium you paid to look like you knew something. What you will be trying to sell will be a beat up mexican tele that will have to be priced less than the new mexican tele.

If you had the nerve to play this on a gig, don't be surprised when you are called out as a Poser. Like a teenage girl wears clothes that look like she pours concrete 60 hours a week, but she is in high school.

If you'd like a Mexican-tele, buy one for it's real value and spend the difference on lessons.

Live long and practice!

It's just OK...

Played on yesterday in a local music store. First impressions were - it's a little bit heavy, and the antiquing looks somewhat tacky. The set up was horrible - action high, neck bowed, and lots of buzzes and fretting out when I bent the E or B strings almost anywhere after the 12th fret. I am a pro repairman and have done setups for people like Robbie Robertson, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Todd Rundgren, etc. - so I know I could easily whip the guitar into shape in a half hour - but, the quality control of their set up really is bottom of the barrel compared with other new guitars (Epiphone / Gretsch / Gibson) that I've seen lately - which are for the most part spectacular.

The sound is good - no where near my old Esquire Custom - but it has the Tele vibe.

Didn't knock me out though...

These guitars are the best sounding tele's I have heard outside of vintage. Amazing guitars. Do yourself a favor and grab one before they disappear. Truly amazing tone, feel and strength. This thing never goes out of tune and has all the golden tone of the oldies. I dont know how they did it but they did it.
