Fender MH-500... 4 years and a new cab

There are only a few things about this amp I don't like.
1) Noise gate needs seperate controls from the FX
2) FX needs "speed" controls or a Tap button for the Delay.
3) I use a EQ pedal in the FX loop for my tone... but I have to do that with any amp, so I can't take that from the MetalHead. No amp has ever just sounded perfect to me. Other than that, it's the best head I've ever used. I even like the Tight channel!! As for the cab, I don't use it, and wouldnt. I never have liked Celestions, too much honk, no chunk(imho). I use Eminence Swamp Thang 16ohm speakers. They are the perfect match for the head and if you already have a cab, its cheaper just to pick out the speakers you really want!!! I have had this head for 4 years now, I think, and its never failed me. Apparently this amp has been discontinued...I can only hope this is an April Fools joke from Fender, but i doubt it. It is no longer on their website. This is the best amp and only amp from Fender I would ever buy and I was hoping for a combo version... oh well.

This head is over rated in my opinion. Yes, its loud! And it looks good. Sounds ok. but thats just it, ok. My Randall RH-200 had better tone for a lot less scratch. If you play Metal, buy the Fender MH cabs, and get a 6505, not this thing. The 6505 has more gain anyway for roughly the same price. This is just a heavy paperweight with a pants load of dials. They just make it look like it can do something. The tone of this amp is generic. If you want Solid-state power, I recommend looking in Warhead territory! The only person I would recommend this amp to is the guy who has to own the biggest of everything, because 500W is a big bragging point. But overall, this thing is just a chromed-up worthless pile of trash that doesn't belong on stage, or in your practice room.

the last great amp

This amp is amazing, I have had it for almost a year. I didn't have the money for the matching cab so I am running it through a b52 cab. Its true about the volume. I have to turn it down so I don't overpower miked drums. Also the gain is over the top. Picture a triple super lead mixed with a mesa. The only down side was finding a footswitch. I bought mine used. I play everything from ccr to motley crue to disturbed. no problems at all. It runs the gauntlet. Buy this amp before they stop making it.

METAL MONSTER!!!

From the moment you plug this thing in all you can do is say "WOW!". I own many Guitars(Gibson Custom Shop Tony Iommi SG, Schecter C-1 Hellraiser with Floyd Rose, Gibson Les Paul Studio, etc . . .) and these Guitars are amazing on their own but this Amp and this Amp only brings them to incredible new heights! The Clean channel is so pure and does not pop at all like other amplifiers. The Tight channel is great for Hard Rock and Blues but you really need to work with the EQs and such to get it right. The Loose Channel is really what sets this Amp apart from all others. This thing just SCREAMS Metal. The Distortion is insane and I do mean INSANE. This amp makes dimebag look like a Blues Player, yes the Tone is that good! It has tons of headroom like all of the other channels. The Distortion and Tone on this amp are very distinctive and can't be copied or matched by anything else out on the market. I had heard a lot from people saying "Oh man its not a tube" and "Fender sucks they are only for rock and blues", they were ALL wrong. Some people have actually mistakin this for a tube amp and I have gotten tons of compliments on my sound. I could faithfully call this the Amp of all Amps. This blows away any tube amp I have played. If you are a Metalhead who wants a true pure clean and a mind numbing aussault of Distortion than this is the amp for you!

Marshall/Mesa Killer

This amp is insane. I bought it and wont play anything else. I've tried marshalls, mesa's, and all kinds of amps but this thing kills all of them. For a solide state compared to the tubes it will blow you away for sound and reliabilty. For the features the only downfall is when I'm playing on stage and want to use the onboard effets, they have to be changed from the head only. The celestion speakers are another reason I bought it, you can buy marshalls and know what your getting but come on...its a fender it's built for nothing but quality. For quality: Amazing. It is made out of flight casing so awsomely rugged and built to take a beating. It's solid state ciruitry give you reliabilty time and time again without having to replace tubes every second jam session. Over all great amp, Nice clear, crisp clean channel, decent tight drive for the classic rock stuff. and house DESTROYING Loose drive that'll please time and time again. THANK YOU FENDER!!!!!
