LOVE THIS GUITAR

I own a few guitars - an Ibanez, Les Paul LP Standard, Strat - and time and time again, this is the one I pick up. I bought it here on Musicians Friend without even trying it out (which I've never done with a guitar). It just looks so damn cool. A real head turner to all who enter my music room. Love the action, the tone - it records beautifully and cleanly. I've turned a few friends onto it as well - and we are all very pleased.

Ugliest tele ever

This thing is the epitome of ugly. Why does the headstock need to look that deformed? It has a humbucker in the bridge which is absolutely wrong on a tele, and single sided binding, ew. The knobs are too deeply knurled and harsh feeling, and the pickup selector is completely in an inconvenient, wrong location. If you want a telecaster, buy a real one, not this thing... Maybe I'm just a purist, but everything about this is wrong to me.

I went to the music store last night as was amazed to see that they had a J5 in stock. I picked it up and played. I played through a small Fender Frontman amp, and it sounded like no one else was in the store to me. The neck was different but still comfortable. The headstock actually isn't as big as it looks. Amazing action, very comfortable body, STUNNING looks. I couldn't help but just look at it after I was done playing it. It had a great clean sound. Very light and clear. On the heavier side, I couldn't have asked for anything more. Not muddy at all, still very clear. Great tone all around. Needless to say, I have to have this guitar. Another jewel in the crown of the empire that is the Fender Telecaster.

My absolute only complaint about this beautifully bizarre looking guitar is it's weight. No kidding; it's like playing with a Les Paul Studio [but better (although, I suspect that my bias is rooted in that I OWN the J5)]. Mass aside, take a look at this thing: I’ve never seen a tele that looks like this and I haven’t seen many of these being used in shows. It plays great and sounds good too.

tapping dream!!!

this guitar is dream. I am a huge fan of chicken pickin and speed and this works wonders with both. Through the clean channel, the twisted tele single coil makes the tone tele's are famous for, well rounded and smooth. flip to the enforcer and you get a pop and twang to die for. The notes are very defined and precise, especially through the neck pickup. Through distortion the news just gets better. The enforcer delivers tight low end and a supprising kick and pinch harmonics are a peice of cake, but oddly enough the tele pickup can deliver the most articulated high notes youll ever hear in your life perfect for the finger tapper who hates muddy tone. The finish can not be done justice in words. I know that mexican teles are a luck of the draw situation but mine came out great. A satin neck with beautiful figuring in the fingerboard. The headstock odd as it is, is prictical for behind the nut bends. only downside, its tough tpo keep clean. you wont be dissapointed!!
