The Fender Blues Junior Amplifier has established itself as a warm-toned favorite with all generations of guitarists. Like the Blues Deluxe and Blues Deville, it takes selected circuit design cues from a '50s tweed Fender to deliver the sound of a classic Deluxe or Bassman with some modern flexibility. The result is a screaming all-tube, 15-watt amp that pushes hot tone through a 12" Fender Special Design speaker. That sound comes courtesy of a pair of EL84 Groove Tube output tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes. Add legendary Fender reverb, flexible controls, and a FAT circuit for golden tone even at low volumes, and you're in business. And just look at that chrome panel and those vintage pointer knobs.

Perfect low volume amp

I use this amp for a mahogany strat deluxe and an ES137 Custom in studio and moderate volume live gigs. (I go to a Supersonic for higher volume.) This amp does a singing clean sound and mild blues breakup beautifully. At moderate volumes it excels - you can get a nice smooth back-end tube compression at a very reasonable volume, (as averse to having to break it up at the gain stage). It has great sparkle and the fat switch gives it some serious punch. It also mics up nicely right on the grill. It's sweet enough that it doesn't require a lot of tone tweaking, and versatile enough that I use it for recording my jazz archtops as well as my stage guitars. I'd buy it again.

Perfect for the Blues

This is my favorite amp. It has a solid full tone before it distorts and a warm yet defined overdrive (when you crank it). I run a Boss Blues Driver to create the low level distortion and it just sings. It doesn’t have many features but the “Fat button” and “Reverb” are stellar. I would by it again.

A Tone Monster - Amazing!

I bought a Fender Blues Jr, black that was returned and discounted to $300 at the Guitar Center in Raleigh NC. It is simple perfection: bass, mid, treble, level, master, reverb, a fat switch (which I leave on), and an off-on switch. The first thing I did was replace the Groove Tubes with matched of Sovtek EL84’s for the power tubes and a matched Tung-Sol 12ax7 for pre-amp tubes. I also replaced the stock speaker with a Celestion Century speaker. I usually have the master and level between 5 - 7, and natural overdrive is tremendous and very reactive as I turn my guitar volume up. It is very receptive to pedals: booster (BBE Boosta Grande), overdrive (BBE Green Screamer), analog delay (a pair of MXR Carbon Copies) and wah (modified CryBaby). All in all, the Fender Blues Jr is an excellent amp; a tone monster. It is so good, I rarely use my Blues Deluxe Reissue.

I have own a Blues Jr for a year now

I have owned a blonde Jr for about a year now, so I thought it was time for a review. For the money, this amp is tops. With my Les Paul, it sounds decent. But when I plug in my Tele, the sky's part and the heavens open. Those two were made for each other. The amp has good cleans and can really be overdriven for a good blues sound. No, it is not a Mesa. But this little workhorse is one the best quality tube amps at that price on the market. My only issue with the Jr.s is that the pots are not always placed correctly on the amp. So if you put some pressure on them (like someone stacks a case on top of your amp while loading the van) the knobs can be pushed THROUGH the wafers that connect them to the circuit board. That breaks the knob and can give you all kinds of popping and crackling.

Not for me

Fender blues junior amp, Made in Mexico, And made out of cheap pressboard. Also a very over priced guitar amp. With one of the worst speakers that I have ever heard in a guitar amp. And the reverb does not work half of the time what a joke. This is NOT a guitar amp for a Pro, This Fender amp is for a kid.
