I play a Fender American Standard Strat and a Gibson Les Paul ---> Fulltone OCD ---> Hardwire Looper/Delay ---> DeVille.

This Fender Hot Rod DeVille is a good amp if you are looking to get into the tube scene. In its stock form, it has good clean channel. The clean reminds me of a blackface Fender (like a Deluxe Reverb), but is not quite as expressive due to the Solid State Rectifier. Clean channel can begin to be a little brittle and harsh when pushed into breakup, but changing the awful stock tubes will help that.

The Drive/More Drive channel is AWFUL. It truly sounds like a hybrid of a bumble bee in a tin can and an extremely flabby marshmallow! There is hope for amp though. There are a TON of mods that can be done to this circuit that really make this a 5 star amp. Jim Price at Omega Amps will make this amp run with a Two Rock for a lot less money, so on that basis alone I would buy one again.

The reverb is great and it is an overall good package for the money.

This amp is my life. I have owned one for a little over a year now...and what can i say. I love it. I never use the distortion on the amp (i run through either my Boss Blues Driver or my boss Overdrive/Distortion pedals) Sounds great clean (i use a boss compresion/sustainer) Im not a big fan of the reverb on the amp but i don't really like spring reverb period lol. To sum it up this is a great amp for many genres, it gets really loud and its tough as hell. BUY NOW!

great clean channel - one of the best, but the drive channel is so awful it will make you quit playing guitar - worst sounding distortion i have ever heard in my life - sounds like solid state - you will have to use pedals in the clean channel - fender knows clean, but they don't know crunch

this amp can sound amazing if you just put an at7 pre-amp tube in the v2 spot - it really helps out the gain channel alot! however, a boss sd-1 in the clean channel with a strat or a paul, and it really sounds great. i also feel the speakers are quite good, especially if you break them in right

This thing rocks!!

So basically i love this amp. Ive been playing it for about a year and a half now, and ive finally gotten around to reviewing it.

As everyone else says, its darn loud. i play right around 1.5-2, and for a small gig ill only raise it to about 3 or a lil more. Its got power, so dont be scoffing at 60 watts.

The clean channel is to die for. It honestly is the clearest ive heard on a lot of amps. It goes really really well with a strat. ive played with a les paul before, but honestly, it sings with strats.

I end up using my own pedals most of the time for distortion. Im running an American Deluxe Strat thru a Boss DS-1 and MXR Carbon Copy delay, and thats it. It takes a while to dial in the right tone, but i can get a really nice clear blues tone, which is what i like playing. excellent for some hard rock ac/dc stuff, but i almost always use my own pedals for it. If anything, ill use the drive function as another boost on top of the ds-1.

Yes, this is not for everyone. Metalheads look elsewhere. All else, rock on. Ive dropped this baby from 4 feet up, and it keeps on playing just fine. Built like a tank, weighs like a tank. No regrets for the price. Buy it.
