For a guitar this sweet, we could have waited another 10 years!
After years of painstaking research and design, the Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster Electric Guitar has finally arrived. Designed with Eric by Custom Shop guru Michael Frank-Braun, this beauty is based on a '57, and combines the best of vintage design with modern electronics technology.
The '57-style, 2-piece alder body has an ultrathin, Custom Shop-quality nitrocellulose lacquer finish that results in better resonance. Johnson opted for a one-piece, quartersawn maple neck with a 12" radius that's finished with a thin-skinned glossy lacquer and vintage tint. 19 prototype pickups were created before Johnson found the tone he was looking for. The Custom Shop-modified single coils use a new wire material and winding technique for the magnets giving them a unique, Slowhand-approved sound. Johnson and Braun also included one of Eric's most famous Strat modifications by wiring the tone controls to the neck and bridge pickups, instead of the standard neck/middle tone configuration of most Strats.
This guitar offers tonal perfection thanks to the discerning ear of one of the best players to ever pick up an axe. And it's pleasing to the eye as well, with its large arm contour, '57-style pickguard and shallow pickup cavities, plus thin headstock with vintage staggered tuners that eliminate the need for a string tree. Unbelievable Custom Shop-like quality in a production axe. Thanks Fender, this one was well worth the wait!

I was one of the first people to pick this thing up, about four years ago (SN# EJ01851). It has been my main guitar ever since. You will read many reviews about how great the tone is, and it is all true. What makes this guitar special is string dynamics. This guitar is wonderful for advanced players who can pull off many different tones by the way you pick or pluck the strings. Also, the pickups are very sensitive to pre-bends and release bends ala SRV, Trey, or Jerry. If your playing screams emotion and you like a strat, look no further. One thing to note is the neck is huge, but quite comfortable. This thing has been through 400 shows/re-strings and all it has needed are a few setups and 2 fret dressings. I own quite a few other guitars, including some custom shop work, but I keep coming back to this one.

Yes this guitar has tone. I have a Strat GMT HSS and brought it to the store to compare, as I did not believe the salesman. Big difference - great tone. Unfortunately the neck is still sticky, the pickguard is warping, the middle tone control does not seem to work and the tuners are extremely cheap. The pickups hum excessively at high volume but the tone is amazing. The lows are crisp and by far the best of my 11 guitars. I can`t justify the high price for a guitar with such poor workmanship.

This is the guitar you buy a strat for. I've only been playing guitar a short while and I've gone through quite a few looking for that great tone and this is it. I'm not a shredder mostly blues and classic rock and the neck on this guitar is perfect the really thin necks didn't suit my hands, and the pick ups are fantastic finally a stock pick up you don't have to change. The staggered tuners without the string tree this guitar stays in tune forever, and the tone is unbelievable. If you can only buy one strat. buy this one.

I've been playing for over 40 years. Never really cared for Strats. I own 11 High end Gibsons and actually had more before I found this guitar. Now it's my main axe.
One strum and I knew this guitar was coming home with me. That was 2 years ago and it still is my main guitar.
The neck is perfect. Very comfortable and rock solid. It was a bit sticky for the first week or so, but break it in for a week, and it's smooth as can be.
The sound is beyond my expectations. It has a clear chime when chording and I can bend the strings clear across the room without throwing it out of tune.
I now own 2 EJ's, and It's now the only axe that I use at my gigs. I always thought Strats were fragile, but I can beat the hell out of of this thing and it and it keeps on shining.
I own the Candy Apple Red, and the Vintage Burst, both have the awesome quarter sawn Maple Neck.
If you're in the market for an all around great guitar, this is the one.
