I love this amp. I think it was made with working musicians in mind. No need for any pedals other than a tuner and maybe a wah. The clean is so nice - cuts right through the mix; very fender. The gain is what I've been looking for - ballsy rock and roll gain. I dropped the treble to 4 or so (single coil) and it is just so smooth. having chorus, reverb, and delay on board is such a plus - no need for lots of pedals as it is truly plug and play. I think this amp is a classic in the making. I liked the fender supersonic (i still have one) but I like this even more as a complete gigging package. Kudos to fender on this one.

After more than seven weeks in the repair shop Fender finally gave up on trying to figure out what was wrong with my Deluxe Vintage Modified and just sent me a new amp. Yes you read this correctly....Fender couldn't figure out what was wrong with the amp they built! As every guitar player knows just because an amp is the same brand and model doesn't always mean it sounds the same. The tone of the new Deluxe Vintage Modified that Fender sent me isn't nearly as impressive as the tone of the one that fried. The experience I've had with Fender recently has made me rethink my opinion of their products and commitment to quality. I've always been a loyal Fender guy, but not anymore. As I said in my earlier review....avoid this amp like the plague.

I bought this amp a few months ago and was having great luck with it. Until about a month and a half ago. At first it just appeared that a capacitor went bad. Then I found out that Fender is having a lot of trouble with it's "Vintage Modified" line of amps. I finally got to talk to the authorized Fender repair guy today, after more than a month, and he told me that Fender was considering doing some sort of recall on these amps. I asked him when my amp would be fixed and ready to pick up. He said he wasn't sure. He tried to order parts from Fender and they were on back order. He said he had been seeing a lot of problems with the "Vintage Modified" amps lately, and they were supposed to be sending him a kit to fix some of the problems. I have always loved Fender products. But after more than a month of waiting on a junk amp simply because Fender won't stock a few basic components has changed my opinion. Fender is letting a lot of loyal guitar players down. Avoid this amp like the plague. Leo, you are sadly missed.

This amp covers a multitude of needs. It delivers the Fender tube requirements in spades. I was a little concerned about the lack of traditional spring reverb. This is the only amp I've played that will drench even the biggest reverb glutton! The heart of the amp is the 40 watt tube section. It delevers. Remember 40 watts of TUBE power far exeed solid state amps. However, sheer power without that pleasing musical tone is wortless. I need the classic southern rock tone Allman/38/.Itdoes this extreemly well. The clean channel alone justifies the price. To have both worlds is vital. If you need exteeeeeeeeem distortion, get a Mesa! A good TS9 with this amp will turn heads. I play a modified Ibanez 470QM with high end pickups. Lawdy' have mercy, this amp produces ! The built in effects cover my needs very well. There is a loop built in for pedal boards (unfoftunately not foot switchable)Fender includes an LED 4 switch foot controller that lets you know what's active on a dark stage. They also supplied a very long cable to permit you to get away from your amp if needed. The only regret I find with this amp is you do not have the capicity to "save" effects settings. Again, this is no issue if you use an outboard effects which the loop supports. I chose the Blond covered option, and you can't even get in the door to play without clamoring over how good it looks! At 40lbs, it's a breeze to transport. Includes a nice cover, and a velcro strap to secure the powered LED foot pedal.Fender not only produced an exceptional amp, but well designed practical features for real musicians!Hope this review encourages you!

Great Amp

I've owned Marshall's,Ampeg,Crate,Line 6,Raven,Sunn,Peavy,Sound City,Hiwatt, and many other Fender amps. This one ranks at the top. I get great comments from people and peers about my tone. I play a Les Paul and a Stratocaster through this amp and it is versatile. The distortion is better than the hot rod deluxe, which was much needed. It handles pedals great. After several gigs, I bought the bandmaster vm speaker cabinet to go with it. What a great match. I've got 45 years of playing experience and I've played just about everything. This is the best yet.
