Great for the money

I bought this guitar a few months ago after it was recommended to me by a friend that gives lessons and by the salesman at my local music store. It has not dissapointed. It's got a great sound. I've played music for years, but I'm just learning guitar, so I had the salesman play it next to several other guitars including comparably priced and very expensive high end guitars. Yes, there were some that had better tone, but at several hundred dollars more. It sounds good plugged in too. If you're looking for a guitar in this price range, you won't go wrong here.

I used to play guitar extensively but haven't played regularly in over 7 years. I sold my guitars off a couple years ago and was looking for something on a budget to get back into playing again. I found the CD-60CE and have been quite satisfied so far. Out of the box the setup was near perfect. No adjustments needed on the neck. The sound is okay. Its not stellar, but its not horrible either. In the past, I had an $800 Alvarez that sounded worse. The action is decent, but could probably be lowered by sanding the saddle down. The included hard-shell case is great and was what sold me on the CD-60CE over some other similarly priced guitars.

This guitar is very comfortable to play. It sound beautiful and looks great too. The only criticism I have for this guitar is that the tuner in it is pretty bad.

Let’s try this again. I bought this 3 weeks ago from my local Fender dealer and have been nothing but frustrated with this guitar every since. I have replaced the nut, saddle and pins with Graph Tech/Tusq products and used a fully compensated saddle and still the tone and projection of the guitar is dead. I normally plug into my Audio Technica 3000 wireless then into Lexicon MPX 100 and BBE Acoustimax to the board which always has provided a great sound with other guitars but no matter how much EQing and screwing around it just won't produce. I have tried 4 sets of strings and again nothing. So...I am selling it a loss and buying a new Blueridge BR 60 CE. I will post a review on it shortly. My Fender is the black version and that was one thing pointed out to me was this was the first "painted" model I have owned, all others have natural finish and maybe that has something to do with the "dead" tone. No matter what the reason I am not impressed with this guitar. Maybe I got a "dud" but then where was quality control?

I bought this 2 weeks ago and I can honestly say I have never been so let down by a product in all my life. The sound of this guitar is awful. I have changed strings, nut, pins and saddle and still garbage. I am now trying to sell it to get rid of it so I can buy something else. I own other guitars both AE and electric and just totally amazed at how Fender screwed this up so bad.
