I already have an electric Strat and love it to death! I wanted to buy an acoustic and went to a store to see what was available. I pucked a about 6 diffent acoustic guitars including a Black Fender Sonoran (only one left in stock)hanging on the wall. I was in the acoustic guitar room for an hour and a half. After trying the other guitars, I was always coming back to that Black Beauty Fender Sonoran! It was an easy choice, and I knew I was going to buy the Fender when I first pucked it. Don't waist your time in a guitar room like I did. JUST GO BUY THE SONORAN!!! Sounds awesome, looks and feel like a rock star would want it to be! Grateful Dead music sounds AWESOME on it!!! Jerry Garcia would love this axe I'm sure of it!!! Dig it!!!

I read them both, one just needs to get a setup performed by a professional, and the other should have stored it properly in a CASE and not on the stand. That guitar was most likely damaged by changes in humidity or temp not lack of quality on Fender's part. The Fender Sonoran has great tone for a guitar in this price range, and the looks are unique. 4.5 on features because like all guitar players I always want more and a tuner built in would be nice. 4 on quality because the wiring inside could be a bit neater, the factory setup needed some adjusting, and there's a bit of visible glue squeeze out on the back bracing inside. For the price this guitar, you would be hard pressed to do much better, and overall you get plenty of bang for the buck. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Fingerstyle Guitar

I bought my Sonoran Last Year and have own numerous other brand guitars in the past. Of all the moderate priced guitars I've owned, this is my favorite by far. I'm a banjo player and enjoyed a finger style of playing. I felt the original strings were a bit on the light side causing some buzzing up the neck. After switching to medium gauge Martin Bronze .013 - .056 and tuning to an open G, the guitar sounded great both amplified and acoustic. I love the light smooth neck and the guitar feels solid overall. It has a clean Robust tone with good overall balance between bass and treble. This guitar had the closest feel to a banjo neck, especially the solid maple was smooth and comfortable all the way up the neck. I highly recommend it.

This guitar is beautiful. It looks amazing and will blow people away. It sounds so warm and wonderful both amplified and unplugged. The look will turn heads and have people asking you where you found such a gorgeous old vintage guitar. The neck feels so great in your hand and the action is wonderful.

I bought this guitar about 6 months ago brand new, played it for a few minutes and then put it on a stand. I was pleased with the playability and the tone at that time. I picked it up a month later and the fret buzz was intolerable. The thing had never been moved, and had been stored correctly on a guitar stand. I finally picked it up again tonight after detuning it a few months ago to try and get the neck to straighten itself back out and it was near impossible to tune, although the fret buzz did seem to be a little less noticeable once I got it in tune.

That's not to say it sounded good by any stretch of the imagination, it still sounded horrible and buzzed like an angry bee hive. This is an out of the box new guitar in factory condition with 15 minutes max playing time on it.

I wouldn't play a kindergarten recital on the thing.

I wish I'd kept the original packaging and played it a bit more when I first got it, because this thing would've been returned in a heartbeat. Maybe I got a lemon, or maybe they're all like this, I don't know.

Worst guitar I've ever bought and the only product I've ever been disappointed in buying from MF in over 20 years of doing business.
