The Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue 40W 1x12" Combo Amp rocks—and not just for the blues! In 1993 Fender released the Blues series amps to great success and acclaim. These modern versions of vintage Fender amps from the '50s customized those designs with channel switching and reverb while retaining the vintage style and tone. When the series was updated, the extremely popular Hot Rod series was born and became a new standard in tube amplification. Now Fender has brought back the Blues designs to satisfy the increasing number of enthusiasts who continue to request the warm tone, unique circuitry, and vintage-style features and look of the original versions.

The Blues Deluxe Reissue, a re-interpretation of the classic Deluxe amp with a tube complement of 3 - 12AX7s and 2 - 6L6s produces 40W into a 12" Eminence special-design speaker with an all-tube preamp and power amp. It has Normal and Drive channels with independent Gain and Master for the Drive channel and a Bright switch for Normal channel. It also has an effects loop, reverb, presence, master volume, 3-band EQ, and Standby switch. Original Blues series styling includes a chrome control panel, vintage chicken-head knobs, and, of course, genuine tweed covering.

I just got this amp today, and all I can say is wow. When i was "test driving" it today, I played an American Strat, and a '88 335. I got it then and there, used, but in superb condition. I just played a small gig with it, and the clean channel is great. Once i got home, I cranked it, and it shines like no other. This amp is more worth the money that a big solid state 100 watt thing. Go with this, you won't be dissapointed.

I run a Strat into my Blues Deluxe Reissue, using the clean channel. All tone knobs on 10-effectively removing the tone circuit. I can cop all sorts of cool vibe using the volume and tone pots of the strat. For overdrive and distortion I use a Tonebone Classic, mainly for the dynamics and true bypass it has. This is an old school amp. Crank it up and dial your guitar volume down. You won't be complaining that it's too loud if you run it that way, believe me. This is the best amp that Fender makes right now. I've played through Fender amps exclusively for 40 years, including Tweeds, Blackfaces, Silver Faces and even a few solid state amps. This amp reminds me of my early 70's Bandmaster Reverb in terms of tone and volume. This is their best amp in my opinion. Get one or two. They will become classics as time goes by.

So first of all, I just want to say I've never felt compelled by a piece of gear to write a review about it- until three days ago when I got this amp. I kind of lucked into it because a friend of mine owed me some money, and I took the amp instead of cash. I didn't know what to think at first- I was happy to get a 40w tweed Fender combo amp, believe me, but I wasn't sure this little thing was going to provide the sonic capabilities that I personally want out of a guitar amp.

After three solid days of playing this bad boy, and one 4 hour jam session with one of the loudest drummers I know, I have no doubts in my mind that this is the single greatest piece of gear I've ever owned. I don't know what it is about this tweed bad boy, but it's tone is amazing - even at lower volumes, which is something because, like we all know, the more juice those tubes get, the more tonal quality.

I play a '71 Epiphone EA-250 and an American Fender Tele most of the time, and have never found an amp that can produce great sound out of both of my guitars (without complete alterations in the amp settings). The completely hollow EA-250 even has manageable Hendrix-esque feedback with high volume and moderately high gain (something unachievable with other guitar amps- anyone who's owned a completely hollow archtop knows what I mean) and let's just say that my Tele hasn't ever sounded better.

You have 2 channels - Clean and Drive. If you have high enough output from your pickups, you can get some pretty cool overdrive on the clean channel up around like 5 or so. And the drive channel is highly shapeable using the drive and presence knobs. (Also could use your volume and tone knobs on your guitar - but you turn those things even 1 level and you lose up to 80% or more of your pickups' output so my advice is leave the volume and tone knobs alone)

The sound is very responsive - both on the clean and overdrive channels. Great tube amp for moderate money. If you have the cash and decide to go solid state over tubes, you're making a mistake - believe me, you want tubes. Even if you have to go for a 40w tube combo instead of the 100w solid state half stack - I bet the 40w tube combo kills the solid stack every time. On tone and volume. And the thing that matters most - Tone with volume. Great amp for low cost - get it before Fender raises their prices another 20%.

I need to comment on the Blues Deluxe. I have an original '93 which has been a no problem amp. I hope the reissue lasts as well. I sometimes feel that Fender is understaing the power at 40 watts. This baby is LOUD ! I play a Strat thru it for the tone & grit it gives single coil pickups. However, my main guitar with this amp is an Epiphone Sheraton. Plays the blues, but can also be set up for a warm jazz tone.
