Beautiful instrument, fantastic sound

I've had this guitar for several years. It is such a beautiful instrument, a real piece of art! It plays very well; it's very comfortable, and I personally liked the V-neck profile better than the U-neck of the otherwise very similar Eric Clapton Strat. It sounds fantastic. The reason I did not give it a perfect 5 is that the quality of the hardware and electronics leaves some to be desired. The five-position switch is very floppy and imprecise. The jack is also very finicky and has a tendency to cut out if the plug is jiggled just a tiny little bit. The little screws that attach the fretboard rust, though that may be mostly due to the environmental conditions (I lived in Singapore for 5 years with this instrument), and it hasn't affected any important parts. I have also not found the boost control particularly useful since you lose to much of the high end when you turn it up. I generally only use it with the treble turned up to the max and no boost, but in that case, it sounds great. All in all I have been very pleased with this guitar.

Suprise inside!

I have owned this guitar for about 2 months now and like it more each time I play it. What suprised me the most was how much the 25db boost did for the aggressiveness of the tone. Due to the built in boost, this guitar is very versatile and you can go from a "Just Looking" overdriven blues tone to a classic 70's and 80's rock metal tone just by twisting the knob in the middle. Very playable although mine needed some minor fretwork which in not unusual from Fender or Gibson even in the higher price guitars. My only knock is the sharpness at the edge of the fretboard. This would be much more playable still with some rolled edges there. Don't be fooled by the lace sensor pickups here. With the onboard 25db boost on, the lace sensors become almost as hot as Alnico's in a Gibson.

Uniquely suited to toneful Strat blues

The US BG artist Strat is a one piece ash body with maple neck, great sustain and timbre, and excellent electronics. Suitable for a wide range of playing styles, it is best voiced for blues. The 25db on-board pre-amp and Gold LS pickups provide broad ranges of tone and drive without nasty SN difficulties. The maple neck plays clean, true, and is comfortable. Some time and thoughfulness is required in setting up the instrument to one's personal tastes. Fresh strings help keep the tuning true when using the tremolo for extreme divebombing, as does a little graphite at the nut and saddles. It's a dependable instrument and a pleasure to play live and in studio. Try 009 string sets for bending, 010 for slide.
