This Left-Handed Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar is true to the original with a premium ash body, a "U"-shaped maple neck, and a 7-1/4" fingerboard radius. As one of the longest-running production models in history, the strength of the Tele guitar lies in its inherent simplicity. It's been modified only slightly in its 40+-year tenure. This American Vintage model features the original Tele circuit with its 3-position switch (update wiring kit is included), original-style 3-saddle brass bridge (a vintage 6-saddle bridge is included) and the ashtray cover. Also true to the original '52 Telecaster, it has a single-ply black pickguard, master volume tone controls, and chrome hardware.

AVRI '52 Tele

I just got a used one. The previous owner installed the modern wiring kit, saving me the trouble. It's still got the three saddle bridge on it, which I'll probably leave on there for extra twang.

This thing sounds phenomenal, with a more pronounced growl than my American Standard Tele. The finish on the fretboard is a little sticky, but that's par for the course with Nitrocellulose laquer. I live in a dry climate, so it won't affect my playing much.

It feels great. I like the fat neck just fine. It's a nice contrast to the sleek C-shaped neck of my AVRI '62 Strat.

This guitar is for more than just vintage buffs. It's a great sounding and feeling axe, and certainly the coolest lefty Tele you can get readily in the USA.

I've been playing Strats for almost half of my musical life and often played telecasters in various music stores, I always thought they were too simple for my style but as my playing styles matured, so too did my yearning for a Tele. Such a beautiful guitar how could I not have noticed sooner?

Do they even have lefty builders?

They obviously have no lefty luthiers or setup techs at Fender. Over the last 35 years I have owned four strats and this model tele. All were lefty guitars, a premium was paid for all of them, and I can honesly say that without the hours of setup work , and in some cases this included fret levelling and redressing, these guitars would have remained sub par. Once they are reworked they are top notch, but this is not acceptable with a product of this price level. I make my living with these instruments and I do not think it fair that my right handed peers have so little to sweat when it comes to their tools.

The way they were?

Pickup selector knob came off at the music store as I was giving it a try.( salesman will confirm). Fender decal started to peel off within weeks of ownership.(bought as a collector piece, hardly played.)What can I say? Same quality as original 52's? Seem's like lots of cash for bragging rights. I guess I expected a little more.

I've owned 2 of these prior to this one. One was orange and heavy as hell, the other one a more horrible orange color and heavy as hell!. I liked the playability of this model but couldn't get past those shortcomings. That was a few years back and so I took a chance and got this one and WOW! Fender has really gotten these right! Butterscotch, and I mean butterscotch in color, lightweight, fit and finish flawless. The real Tele sound and color at half the Custom Shop price. I am thrilled!
