This guitar is truly a remarkable looking and sounding instrument. I MUST say replace the 250K pots with 1M its totally different. The original 72's had 1M in them anyway. The tone will just jump out at you and smack you. The neck pickup then has a nice jazzy purr and the bridge has a well rounded hunk to it. The tone improvement with the pot change is astounding. The maple neck is a little thick for my taste but the sound of this guitar more than makes up for it. This is a welcome re-issue.

Fender makes a wonderful guitar and I really want to add one of these to my collection. I currently play a Deluxe Players Strat and that plays wonderfully but I've been looking at one of these for a while now. Fit and finish when it comes down to it the quality on any Fender seems to be outstanding. The pick ups are wonderful and give a nice selection of tones from sparkle cleans to some pretty nasty distortions. Now the only complaint I can voice is the price hike Fender has going on now. I know tough times and all, but when Fenders start to spike into Gibson prices... I love the instruments Fender puts out and will continue to be a fan, but I'll be looking for a used one of these.

The guitar was worth the money 3 years ago when i bought it. I wish the pick ups where upgraded, and the tone nobs are really cheap. It plays well, and is one solid guitar. The walnut looks beautiful, and will stay nice. But, I still do enjoy playing it, just not worth the current price.

I've had this guitar for nearly a year now and I think I'm ready to trade in for something better. It works great, sound isn't too bad and is very reliable BUT it's just not for me. I gave the features a 3.5 'coz its not worth any more stars than that, No hard case, No setup and it's a pretty plain looking guitar. 4.5 for quality, it's gotten me through numerous gigs and recording sessions and doesn't show scratches(i got the black model). 3.5 stars for value, well I payed a little more that the sale price for this and it definetely wasn't worth it IMO. I might trade it in for a LP or a musicman axis..

Same guitar for 30% more money

I have this guitar, and I really like it. It's nothing super special, but it's a great all around workhorse, and used to be cheap enough that I didn't mind gigging heavily with it.

Prices on fender guitars are going through the roof. This year the retail value on many of their models has increased by 30% or more. This is unwarranted and abusive to customers.

Shop around- you can find some really nice deals on used LP's, SG's, American Strats and Tele's that will way out-perform this guitar for about the same price.
