Fender's reissue of the '65 Mustang Electric Guitar, hearkens back to the first full year of Mustang production. The Mustang guitar was originally conceived as a student model but over time it's been seen on some important shoulders including those of David Byrne, John Frusciante, Kurt Cobain, Todd Rundgren, and Adrian Belew to name just a few!

This reissue Mustang has great color and cosmetic options, as well as a heightened level of period-correct detailing (body wood, logos, etc.)

The 65 Reissue is spectacular. I love the size and playability of this guitar. For me its the perfect fit. I changed the white tip tuners with all chrome Fender F logo tuners. They are exactly the same as the stock tuners except the buttons are chrome not white. I also installed a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker in the bridge. The stock pich ups are great but for my style of play the humbucker is a better fit. My only problem with the 65 reissue is the slab body. No contours. I like my 69 reisse Mustang better because it has the countours. Overall the 65 is a terrific guitar. I recommend it to anyone.

I've always liked mustangs but I've never had the chance to play em. finally was able to hold one and plug in. I was expecting the pickups to sound really really weak, but they werent too bad, so I was suprised a bit. I think the build quality is excellent. The one I played had perfect action and played very slick. I'm gonna be buying one in white pretty soon and its gonna be my only electric. I'm gonna replace the stock pups with some lindy fralins. Also, this guitar, with the option to be in or out of phase, with an egnater amp, give you 110% control of your tone without touching anything digital. This is probably one of the best guitars as far as being able to 'tweak' your sound and have that little something different that other tars don't have. It's not a les paul so dont expect grunt. But its not made for that. I play it for its very pronounced cleans and playability and aesthetics. This guitar sounds like no other guitar, so if you go into your demo with no expectations, just an open mind, you will find a lot of special things about this guitar. The mustang is a classic!

A Mustang was my FIRST electric...

...over 30 years ago. That guitar is long gone, but tonight I got myself a NEW Mustang.

I'll be blunt: these reissues make the originals look sick. I just never, never got a good sound out of my old blue 'stang. My friend has a vintage racing stripe Mustang, and it sounds like my old one -- lifeless.

When I saw a REISSUE Mustang a few months ago, I had to laugh. But I tried one, to see if it was as hopeless as I remembered.

Boy, was I surprised. I wanted it.

The short, high-gloss neck has a very rounded fretboard; feels great playing chords, but doesn't fret out when you bend a string. The pickups have a unique tone, not like a Strat or a Tele, but very ALIVE (unlike my old Mustang). Clean, it can be bright or mellow. In the store, I played it through an AC30, and it sounded sweet and rich. At home, plugged into a Marshall combo, I got a very complex crunchiness, unlike any other guitar I own.

Bottom line, if my original Mustang had been like this, I'd still have it.

Only downside is the price. Just doesn't seem like a little ol' Mustang should be this expensive.

This guitar sounds awesome, and it's finishes are beautiful. I've been looking for a daphne blue Fender for a long time, and I finally found one! I would reccommend this guitar for anyone!

Love it...But not for everyone

Great guitar, love the look, the sound, and especially the feel. However, there are a few flaws. First off, the guitar sounds awesome, but it cant really handle certain things. I sometimes choose this over my les paul at gigs just because it gets a different kinda tone than any of my other guitars, but theres a lot less sustain, and it just sounds a little lacking with really heavy music and with some solos. Pretty much everyone else I know or see with this guitar has switched both pickups (or at least the bridge) out, but I won't because I dont want it to lose that signature mustang tone. And personally I HATE the sound of both pickups out of phase, a kool option I guess, but there are more selections that sound just phenomenal. Which leads me to the old school pickup selector switches. They are right above the strings, and sometimes when I play aggressively (all the time) I hit em and all of a sudden theres no sound...a little tape or some awareness can fix this easily, but its a good thing to know. And the tremolo arm does eventually cause some tuning issues here or there, but its actually not as bad as I hear people say, I think its sweet. So in short, it is a great, beautiful, unique instrument, but I suggest that you try before you buy.
