Got this guitar in a clearance sale. The playability is great, it has a wonderful warm sound, and it's nice and light. I play mostly ambient music with it (clean, reverb/echo and delay effects) and it sounds fantastic.

Saw this with an outstanding Stupid Deal of the Day and had a coupon, so decided to try it as a goof.
Very surprised by the quality. Fit and finish were surprisingly flawless, setup was better out of the box than any other guitar I own, including Fender Custom Shop. Someone knows what he is doing when it comes to setups. Dyed maple fretboard looks a little cheesy, but ok. Mine has a 3-ply guard.
Pickups sound very "Stratty" and shout Fender all the way. Upgraded pickups might be in order for some, but not for me. I got an incredible deal and will now give Fender Mexican products a fighting chance. This guy is a keeper.
Now if I can just get the same deal on the Olympic White model...

I just got my new Reverse Strat! love it!I must say I purchased this weapon because I like unique looking guitars. I was lucky enough to spot it on the Stupid Deal of the Day, What a steal! I own about 10 strat style guitars including 4 Fenders, Schecter c1, Kramer Van Halen model from the 80's & Jackson Dinky. I find no issue with the pick ups in this axe! The neck is tremendous! looks just like my early 70's strat's neck. I would recommend keeping this vintage including the Hum. If you play metal, I would look to one of the many strat style axes built for speed I mentioned three earlier in this review or grab a standard strat and throw a mini humbucker in the bridge slot.

I picked up the black strat about a week ago at a good price. It will have to get a good set up as there are some pretty major string buzz issues and the intonation is off. This is to be expected though. What is not to be expected is the large dent in the side of the guitar. I decided that it's not worth sending it back, and with a good set up and maybe swapping the pickups for something that sounds a little better, it will be a keeper.

I bought this 60's Reverse Headstock MIM Fender Strat to replace a much less expensive Squire Strat. To be used primarily for recording, I wanted more of a "true" Strat sound (lots of tonal personality) than the Squire could deliver...and, got the guitar a great deal, so couldn't resist. This instrument won't blow you away with fancy features - it has the typical volume/tone/tone controls and a 5-way switch. The 6 screw tremolo bridge is retro, but I've heard some prefer over the 2-pole version. Out of the box, the action was better suited for slide. Though, after some tinkering, I was able to adjust the action to a respectable height, put the proper amount of relief on the neck and properly float the bridge. The least desirable feature, if you can call it that, is the signature vintage 60 cycle hum and buzz from the vintage single coil pickups. Rather than plastering copper tape all over the guitar's insides and rewiring the harness, I replaced the stock pups with Fender Hot Noiseless. The sound is definitely "hotter" and still has maintained the Strat twang when needed. IMHO, for recording, noiseless pups are the answer. Overall, a decent purchase. I can't find any obvious flaws with the guitar and look forward to recording with it. BTW, I did replace the single ply white pick guard with a more solid feeling 3-ply (a real 'miss' on Fender's part). I'd favorably recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a unique twist on a classic Fender Strat.
