The Epiphone Valve Junior Hot Rod Head was created due in part to the worldwide cry for more features on the wildly popular Valve Junior head. With added standby, master volume, gain and reverb, this 5-watt tube-driven monster will deliver the goods. In addition, Epiphone added a dummy load reverb / preamp output on the rear panel. This turns the tube amp head into a very versatile 5-watt stand alone reverb tank or enables the preamp to drive the front end of another amp.

Epiphone Valve Junior Hot Rod 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head Features:

  • 5 Year Limited Warranty

I've had the Epiphone Hot Rod Valve Jr for about two months. The reverb is nothing too inspiring, I either leave it off or turn it pretty low. The options for different speaker outputs and the reverb output are good ideas. I changed the stock EL84 to a JJ and it sounds great. It pushes a 4x10 cab easily, lots of volume from 5 watts. I'm happy with it.

I have 2 of the old heads, a V2 and a V3 circuit and a combo. I just bought this new model and I am disappointed. Epiphone change the sound from the original, there's less bass, it sounds thin. The reverb is terrible. I have Peavey Windor Studio with the same exact reverb tank and it sounds decent, this one isn't usable as a stand alone reverb unit. The only other person I know of who has this feels the same way. Although it does makes a great preamp gain stage into another head. You don't need to have a speaker cab plugged in when using it as a preamp, it has a built in speaker load it switches to when the preamp jack is engaged.

The fact that this NOT only is an amazing sounding amp head...but its a STAND ALONE REVERB TANK is incredible. You check any online or in store retailer...the cheapest reverb tank you can find is 499.99, which isn't even a guitar head. This really does sound amazing, I use this as a head by itself, or plug it direct into my multitrack HD system and use it for the spring reverb. This is a great deal
