The Epiphone SST Studio is a steel-string acoustic-electric guitar that combines electric and acoustic technology with state-of-the-art construction techniques. This is a guitar that has virtually nothing in common with anything else on the market. In fact, the Epiphone SST guitar doesn't even have a sound hole. It's easy to get sidetracked by the stunning visuals of the new SST Studio Guitar—from the ebony finish to the hourglass curves—this is one of the best-looking guitars Epiphone has ever released. Unlike traditional acoustic guitars that feature hollow bodies that are susceptible to feedback, the Epiphone SST combines a solid mahogany body with computer-designed sound chambers, the active SST Studio preamp and a NanoFlex pickup designed in cooperation with Shadow Germany. Not a piezo, the unique flexible sensing material in the pickup features integrated active electronics and picks up not only string vibration but also top and body vibrations without the harshness of piezos. The result is a guitar that delivers natural acoustic tone in any situation and at any volume with the only squeals coming from the front row of the moshpit. The Epiphone SST Studio Guitar is not just capable of mind-blowing acoustic tone at high volumes without feedback. The SST Studio preamp features a built-in headphone amp that allows you to plug ordinary headphones into the 1/4" output jack for late-night hotel room inspiration.

The Epiphone SST Studio is equipped with a SlimTaper mahogany neck, a smooth 24-fret rosewood fingerboard, and acoustic steel strings. Once you've picked the SST Studio guitar up, you'll never put it down. Like all Epiphones, the hardware is built with working musicians in mind and includes premium gold Grover machine heads for rock-solid tuning accuracy and stability and a solid rosewood reverse-belly bridge with compensated saddle. The Epiphone SST Studio is the complete acoustic-electric guitar package at the right price.

GREAT GUITAR FOR LIVE GIGS!

This guitar is extremely versatile. I am an acoustic solo artist that does a lot of looping. I run my acoustic (was a Martin D15 now the SST) into the Digitech Jamman and use other various effects (DL4, Green Screamer, MicroPog, QTron, and a Vox Wah). This guitar sounds great and does not feedback at all with the overdrive. The sound is great plugged in, but do not get it for regular acoustic use. The sustain is nice and it does sound like an acoustic, very thick.

Overall, I will be using my Martin for acoustic gigs and this one for ALL plugged in gigs. GREAT PURCHASE!!

The only reason I do not give it a 5.0 in features is that it would be nice to have an on-board tuner.

I have had my SST for over a year now and prefer the action to my Strat or Rickenbacker. It has a bit of a muddy electric sound and the clean treble is weak. However, the action is good and it is rock solid when it comes to staying in tune. I use it to practice without amplification and leave it out for anyone to play. It is getting pretty beat up but, that is what I really like, it plays well, it is fun and I did not pay a fortune for it.

Let's start with the obvious. it's great for live use, no feed back bottom line, it has a good tone over all but, it can be a bit too much on the high end, to get that big low end tone out of it you do need to do some 'EQ-ing" at the back of the house. with that said I'm not disappointed at all, I won't lie it's no Martin or Taylor etc, but for the price it's awesome!

Got my guitar and from the moment I tuned it up I was in love, the neck is bar chord friendly and the sound is just amasing through my little pa. The obvious advantage is that there are no feedback issues when playing live. I also ran this guitar straight into my recording console to get a feel for the actual sound off the guitar and pickup system and honestly it doesn't absolutely nail the acoustic sound it's pretty darn close. Overall I love the ax and my only fear is I heard that they may discontinue this model and I dont have a back up yet.

This is a knock off of the original Chet Atkins sst made by both Gibson and Epiphone. It is a good guitar for the money... not as good as it was when Chet's name graced the finish... due to a new pickup system, but still a bargin if you're looking for a good acoustic/electric for live use. I own 3 chets and one of these. It's pretty close. If youre just getting started or a seasoned player it's a good deal.
