Antique Natural, Gold Hardware, Preamp

Instead of the tried and tested combination of a hollow body and soundhole, the SST Classic 2.0 acoustic-electric guitar was developed by Epiphone to combat the inherent feedback problems that threaten acoustic performance at high volumes. In a unique construction coup, this nylon-string guitar boasts a revolutionary solid-body design using a spruce top and mahogany body, combined with computer-designed sound chambers to deliver natural acoustic tone. They don't have soundholes because they don't need them.

The SST Classic 2.0 features a 2" nut and unrivaled comfort of a SlimTaper Mahogany neck, along with the security of professional classical tuners and a rosewood bridge. This guitar features an SST Classic preamp with active volume and EQ controls, the Shadow NanoFlex bridge pickup to convey the gorgeous raw tone through your amp or PA, and an innovative headphone/amp switch that lets you plug a set of regular headphones into the output jack and practice quietly. Not a piezo, the NanoFlex's unique flexible sensing material features integrated active electronics and picks up not only string vibration but also top and body vibrations as well without the harshness of piezos.

Value for money...

Really good product, for the money, it`s perfect. Of course you can´t compare with a Godin guitar (3 times the price) but I must say I have tried both of them and sound quality is not three times better for Godin. Make yourself a gift, buy this product. Excellent buy.

I played one of these at an open mic that someone had. I really liked it so I bought one myself. It sounds really good. I never tried the 1.75 version. May have liked it more with a thinner neck but like the wider neck just fine.

Good guitar problems with electronics

I love this guitar. It is a shame that I have had so many problems with the electronics. I took it in for warranty repair soon after arrival. It was killing batteries. They had to replace the jack as well as the EQ. After making a long trip back home, I noticed it cutting out when I would play hard. I may have to get them to take out the factory jack from Epiphone and put in a standard stereo jack. I will loose the headphone capability though. The guitar itself is great though. When it is working without bugs it sounds incredible. Hopefully, I just have a lemon. It is a good guitar, just make sure your electronics work well before your time limit expires to return it. You may have to drive a long way for repair as I did.

Epiphone SST Classic

I really was surprised of the quality of this guitar. I had heard several negative reviews for the previous Epiphone Chet models, most of them had to do with poor pick-up systems that over amplified the sound of the A string. This guitar has the new Shadow pick-up system and cost me no more than any of the used Chet Epiphones I saw on e-bay. I bought it new though. I really researched before buying. I really didn't have $ for a Godin multiac. I specifically wanted the 2" nut width. The Crafter doesn't come in a 2" nut width. Most of the other nylon chambered guitars I heard( Line 6, and various travel guitars) sounded like toy guitars when plugged up. This guitar sounds incredible through my Behringer acoustic amp. The string balance is great. It has a very warm sound. My only warning would be that you need to know this guitar doesn't fit in those generic cases for electric guitars. It might fit in one for a 335 style guitar... I'm not sure.
