Cool Guitar!!!

This guitar is probably the best deal for the money, if you want to get a nice humbucker sound, which sounds very much like a guitar from the sixties. It has a gutsy Gibson sound, which can be expressed in very creative ways!!!!!

Epiphone SG-310 Hi-Performance Electric Guitar Pack with Valve Junior Amp:
Purchased 2 of these packages - one for the family (kids to learn on without touching my gear) and one intended to give to a nephew. This package exceeded all my expectations. The amplifier included is the V.3 (with the Eminence speaker and many popular mods incorporated) although the picture on the site shows the V.2 - it performs wonderfully and is worth the cost of this package alone.
The guitar is comfortable with nice action out of the box. The strings are garbage. I will have a set-up professionally done on them to ensure they are adjusted perfectly for the Elixer Nano-Web Light strings I ordered when I ordered the package(s). Set-up is probably not necessary - it plays nicely out of the box - but when I order online I always have my local Luthier inspect and set-up the guitar within the first couple weeks so I can send it back before the 45 day deadline in case of any nasty surprises (hasn't been neccessary yet from musiciansfriend). The guitar has 2 pickups (neck and bridge - or treble and rhythm) with a separate volume and tone control for each and a 3 position selector switch to select one pickup, the other or both.
I found the stand stable, the tuner adequate, and the strap is leather - not the style I prefer and lacking most features but will be fine for the kids.
This package is so good I am seriously leaning towards keeping the one I bought for the nephew for myself and getting ordering him another one.
You control this amps tone/sound by adjusting the amp volume and the guitar volume - ie. turn the guitar volume down and amp volume up to achieve more distortion - amp volume down and guitar volume up for clean. The amp volume is loud enough - equivalant to a 35 or 40 watt solid state amp at it's maximum. There is no headphone jack or individual EQ controls (see volume knob above). It has wonderful tones.
The instrument cable is cheap but functional to start out with - replace with a quality cable as finances allow.
I have not seen a better all-in one package at this price point. This package will carry the beginner through all levels without more than incidental investment on the way. For the experienced player ... this is a fun inexpensive package.

I own this guitar, and it is my favorite guitar ever. It's just as good as the Gibson SG, and it's very stylish. I love how it's lightweight, and sounds great. My friend has this amp, and it is beautiful, even though I prefer my Line 6. It is great for beginners and experts, and it has my recommendation.

Stay Away From the Special!

First I bought the SG Special package. It was okay, the guitar itself, but the amplifier sucked. Then I saw this package and I thought, I've got money to waste, I'll give it a try. I got it and the guitar was double the talent of the Special, and the amps cannot be compared, you need this package.

I Rock This Guitar

I just got this guitar with the pack, and I must say that the Cherry finish is simply beautiful. I would recommend restringing the guitar also. I also like that his has 4 volume controls, very convenient. I dont like how it is hard to get down into the 19-22 frets, but who needs them?
Overall, very good guitar, beats a Special II any day.
