The SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar from Epiphone is based on the original Gibson SG design. The Prophecy guitar boasts an EMG-81 humbucker in the bridge position for great attack and sustain during solos and an EMG-85 humbucker at the neck for fat, great-sounding rhythm. Lavish features on this guitar include a highly figured quilt maple top on a solid mahogany body, pearl inlay knobs, strap locks, graphite nut, Grover tuners, a bound ebony fingerboard, unique blade inlay, and a deep, rich midnight ebony finish. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece add more sustain and make string changing easier. The Prophecy guitar's hard maple set neck and 24-fret ebony fingerboard provide a playground two full octaves in length.

It Was Perfect Out Of The Box!

I have owned this for 1.5 years and out of the box it still plays perfectly. Like any new product you can get one that needs a little help or may need nothing at all. This guitar is everything they say it is and fits my rock, country, blues and pop song needs just fine. I have a small green splotch down by the bridge which makes it unique and you can't see it unless you know it's there. 24 frets, set neck, beautiful finish, emg active pickups, satin black finish neck, strap locks and killer sound make it an extreme value for me and so glad i chose this model of guitar for live performances and studio recording. Thank you Epiphone/Gibsun

awesome for metal, not so good for anything else

this guitar is made for metal and it's really good at it. the neck is very fast, the emgs make it sound like a beast, and like all sgs, it has a dark sound.

it's not very good for anything else. the emgs just aren't made for blues or classic rock. i can get them to sound pretty clean, which surprised me.

i wouldn't recommend this if you don't play metal exclusively or if this is going to be your only guitar. but it's definitely a good guitar, very good quality, and not bad to look at.

Too hot for me.

Ironically, I'd like to sell mine. It's just too hot for me. This axe is ideal for a metal or hardcore shredding. I play mostly alternative and classic rock and already have a guitar that does that well. If you usually shred but occassionally want the versatility to play blues or classic rock, you might still be okay with this. This is a high-quality instrument. The pickups are insanely hot. The quilted top is beautiful. The ebony neck is smooth. The tonewoods on the body make for such great resonance, that you can almost play unplugged. The tuning machines are high quality. It stays in tune well. There is a little fret buzz when brand new but mine went away after about a week. It's a fabulous achievement for Gibson/Epiphone for an instrument up to professional demands that delivers on outstanding value.

THIS GUITAR HAS EVERYTHING

Every aspect of this guitar is amazing, it had everything i was looking for: fast neck, great hardware, AMAZING pickups, beautiful finish, and best of all, a killer body shape. The main thing I love about this guitar is that it's the biggest SG out there (other SG's have tiny bodies) which adds to the overall look. The neck is satin which makes it extremely fast and easy to play, and the emg's are the best sounding pickups i've ever heard. It's also very comfortable to play. There are two major flaws about this guitar however: One of the straplocks is located directly where the neck joins the body, so its extremely annoying to play some of the higher frets. The other flaw is found on all SG's: it's neck heavy, which means you have to hold the neck up a bit and play at the same time, which is also annoying. But if you move the position of it to the upper horn it should make a difference. Other than those two things the guitar is truly incredible, especially for the price. One more thing, the flame maple blends in more than that of the pictures, it's actually barely noticible which is cool because it makes it look even better

buy it. I know I am
