Taylor Killer

Having owned many acoustic guitars from early Epiphones to Takamines to an expensive Taylor 410kce, the AJ500R blows them all out of the water. Sure there are some minor finish flaws but it kills my Taylor in tone and volume hands down. I picked my 500R up used at my local shop that doesn't even sell Epiphones for a fraction of the retail price and lo and behold it came retro fitted with a passive pick-up (an extra bonus!) Needless to say, this guitar is a fantastic instrument for the price, a great travel guitar as well as one to perform with. My fingers now hurt from playing so long. I guess its a good thing...Go out and buy any of the masterbuilt Epiphones. You won't be disappointed. By the way, anyone wanna buy a Taylor? Its for sale.

Solid wood - a solid buy

I've been playing for over 45 yrs., and am a true Gibson enthusiast, currently own a J-45 & a very rare J-60 in addition to an ES-175 & '56 Les Paul gold top re-issue. My 15 yr. old "metal head" son wanted an acoustic & in the course of our shopping, we tried the Epi - I was knocked out! Comparably priced Martins/Taylors, with HPL back/sides do not hold a candle to this instrument. Full acoustic tones that can only be produced from a solid wood guitar. Very playable, well constructed with a unique appearence. Anyone who may have "issues" about purchasing an import guitar would be foolish not to try this guitar. It is, without a doubt, the best solid wood guitar that can be purchased without breaking the bank. An absolutely incredible value!

I bought the AJ-500RE a little over a year ago, and have never once regretted anything about that purchase. This was a big treat for me, I've played for over 40 years and never had extra money to buy a top end guitar, although I've had chances to play several (Martin, Gibson, Taylor). They were all great guitars, but out of reach for me. The Epiphone wasn't! This is as nice of a sounding and playing guitar as any I have ever played, I simply love it.

I know there are better guitars out there. To say that this is the best guitar in the world wouldn't be credible. BUT, I will say that for the price, it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to match the quality of construction (excellant), sound (very clean), and playability (extremely smooth and easy).

You can't go wrong with this guitar for value and performance. I say again that I love this guitar!

Please, if you are considering buying this guitar, don't hesitate. You cannot go wrong here. I am a full-time musician and have played guitar all my life. I also own a Taylor 714, and believe me this guitar holds it's own alongside of it. You simply will not find a more solidly constructed, or sounding instrument for this little of money hands down. Truth is, in every music store that sells these, I deliberately pick every one of them up and play them, to judge for myself. Every single one of them has completely exceeded my expectations. Period. Great, great guitar. You are looking at a minimum of $1500 if you want a Taylor, Gibson, or Martin with these same specs and something that sounds this rich. If you love great acoustic guitars, save yourself a thousand dollars, and just buy and Epiphone Masterbilt.
