I am a hobbyist but have played everything under $2k price in the stores. I've always admired the full line of Gibsons at the bluegrasss showcase in nashville. One day while sorting through the pile dead sounding j-45's/50's, I stumbled on this scratch and dent Epi leaning in the corner. Same action and fuller sound. What!? it's got a Baggs in it Too?? Got a great deal on a great rig. I did have to have it set up with a couple frets filed at home but, what a crisp bass! It doesn't make as good a lap guitar because of the fat waist, but that would be it on the downside.

I own a Gibson J 50 reissue from 2003, which I love. I bought this guitar as my stage/practice guitar. This EPI sounds/plays as good. I almost like the satin finish on the EPI more. If you're looking for a deep Gibson semi jumbo sound this is your piece at a super price. It's hard to believe these don't sell for a grand. Peace.

This has to be the best Buy on the Market. A deeper, fuller sound than my Taylor 310 or my Martin D-1. The first day I had it I took it to an Open-Mic, and plugged in... it's sound was so much better than all the other Guitars there, including a Martin D 28. It is nice and light, comfortable to handle, and the woods are just perfect. The action was a little high, the Sound out of this would---a very Fat Sound... I have always wanted a Gibson J-50 but this sounds just as good (the J 50 I tried had elexer strings so I put elexers on my AJ500ME). If you are reading this in order to decide if this Guitar is worth buying, I am very picky about my Guitar and recommend this highly. So don't think any longer buy this Guitar..

I went shopping for a "stage" guitar at a store that had over 500 instruments in stock. I had a boat load of money so I tried out everything, Martins, Taylors, Gibsons,Takamine, Guild, you name it! I came home with this baby and saved enough $$$ to also buy the Masterbilt classical too! The AJ seems to be "played-in" right off the rack, and the pickup sounds great thru our P.A. This is one super axe, rich tone, projection, easy to play, and the included case is the RollsRoyce of gig bags!! BUY IT!!
