The warm, clear tone of the Riviera electric guitar makes it a perfect instrument for jazz, blues, or country. Its semi-hollow body is crafted of laminated maple. A set mahogany C-shaped neck provides sustain and playing comfort. Features 3 P-90 dog-ear single-coil pickups for vintage tone and a Bigsby tailpiece. A polyurethane finish and gold hardware give this limited edition Epiphone guitar an uptown look.
Epiphone Limited Edition Riviera Custom P93 Electric Guitar Features:
This is one fine instrument. I have not found anything wrong. Out of the box, all it needed was a tune, and sounded perfect. Fit and finish was amazing. There was one little flaw, a bit of gold paint, overspray, on one of the volume knobs. It was rectified immediately by MF. I would buy another one of these in a hearbeat. I may well, buy another, just for an investment. After one week of play, I put my Dot Studio, up for sale, as I will never go back to it again.

The Epiphone P93 Riviera has amazing features for the price. I still don't know how they can afford to put out this thing, but I'm willing to take advantage.
Bigsby is great -- the guitar holds its tuning after I've used it. Pickups have an amazing versatility; I'm putting the guitar through the Vox Tonelab and it's been very impressive. (Yes, the Tonelab is impressive, but my other guitars haven't been as responsive). So far no feedback. My jack is fine.
The guitar did need a set-up. Action was very high, but once I got a set-up (minimal -- just for action), everything was fine. Really a very beautiful guitar, too, but I'm most impressed by it's versatility. The different combinations of pick-ups bring out new tones every day.

I bought this guitar because I wanted a guitar with this particular body style, but I got a really good deal with it. I was weary because I had read a lot of critical reviews of it, however, it was fantastic upon arrival. I got it the same day I had a concert, and after changing the strings, this played as well as my Epiphone Les Paul standard. The Bigsby set up is nice, the control is wonderful and the action was just right. I could not be more pleased with this guitar.

Big disappointment

Some folks may get lucky and get a "good" one. Not me. Highest action I've ever seen on an electric guitar. I would've had to drop another $200 to get it set-up, frets milled, input jack replaced (it fell into body) and decent pots. Then there's that goofy riser for the bridge pickup - what's that about? She was a beautiful guitar to look at .....stock pickups are so-so, the Bigsby is flimsy looking and feeling.Finish around the F-holes was not the best. I really wanted a NICE Riviera but ended up so disappointed. Seriously, if you get one, be prepared to drop $200 - $300 into it right away.

For the money, it's a great deal. But you'll need to invest a little time and money to make it great.
These are my issues: The tune-o-matic bridge buzzes (as many do). The gold finish on the bridge rubs off really fast.
The jack falls into the guitar a lot, needs to be glued or replaced. The tuners stay in tune, but are a little loose.
The setup out of the box was horrible. Aside from the easy stuff (truss rod, intonation and string height), the nut
needed some filing and there were some high frets that a tech took care of for me. After that it plays well, feels
good.
These P-90's sound good, but are pretty dark. A bit muddy when distorted. I'm experimenting with new pots and caps,
and am also replacing the pickups with VVG's. And I'll be replacing the bridge with a roller. I'm blogging
all about these changes - search for me by name if you're interested.
