Great acoustic, nice folk sound

Love this guitar. I've owned and played much more expensive guitars, and although when I recieved the guitar it needed some work (the usual: set-up, strings, and I put a Fishman Rare Earth pick-up into it) it became an exceptional instrument after a little tweeking. I highly recommend it, the Epi is great for folk, alt country, fingerpicking...nice early Beatles type sound to it.

Had mine for about a year now and WOW! All I had to do was put on a new set of strings and I was in heaven! Perfect right out of the box. Great action, beautiful black finish. Got mine when MF was blowing them out. The sound beats my handmade Seagull. If your gonna be famous I guess buy a Gibson. If not why pay for 3 or 4 times more for the same kinda guitar!

This is my first acoustic, I bought because they were getting blown out last november. I got mine in red, and wow, the picture does no justice for the finish on the guitar, but I think the amount of finishing on the guitar takes some of the natural sound away from the guitar. Overall it has a nice tone to it. I like playing it, all my friends really like playing it, but the action on it is high, although I havent taken it in to be adjusted. It had a couple flaws in it from the factory, the bridge had a hairline crack in it. and there was a slight flaw in the wood on the top. but overall, for the price its the most guitar you can get.

Plus: Classic looks, solidly built, sounds good and will even improve as it ages, Low Price.... Minus: Action is a bit high, my fingers have callouses and I still felt some sting-maybe the strings just needed some breaking in. The thin pickguard-mine was peeling from near the sound hole but an easy fix. This guitar is longer than my other acoustics coz of the headstock, it barely fits my gig bag.

Bottom line: If you are a pro then go for the Gibson. American made instruments are still superior to foreign made BUT the Quality Gap has shrunk. If you are a hobbyist or low in cash then get this. For Price/value ratio it's a steal.

Couldn't be happier with this guitar...

This guitar is sweet. I bought one for my girlfriend a couple weeks ago and another for myself when I realized that the price to awesome ratio was completely insane. I have been playing my Taylor 410-ce for the last 10 years and loving it but playing this thing makes me feel like Elvis. It looks amazing, it sounds amazing. I just got an Epiphone Dot Studio recently and that guitar is great as well. My $1000 "made in the USA" guitars aren't seeing any use now that I have a couple of gorgeous Epiphones. When I started playing guitar in high school in the late 90s Epiphone kind of sucked as I recall but they are making some nice stuff now.
