TRULY rivals Gibson

I bought an Epi les paul about five or six years ago, when I had only been playing guitar for about two years (they had the green tuners at the time). I didn't really know what I was getting at the time, but retrospectively, this is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I've played plenty of gibsons, and while their wiring is always better and they hold their tuning longer, the Epi rivals them in tone, and *without a doubt* has a smoother, faster feel than any Gibson les paul I've played. Now, to be fair I have played newer Epi LP standards and they're not quite the same. But a great buy, ESPECIALLY in terms of comfort and playability.

I picked me up one of these beauties in December '06. I got mine in ebony, and it's just beautiful. (The pictures don't do it justice!!!) after owning it for about a year, I began to notice that the bridge pup was slightly muddy, so I replaced it with a Seymour Duncan Jb humbucker. (this upgrade was well worth it, this pickup breathed new life into this guitar.) I play mostly punk/alt rock: Green Day, Sum 41, Blink 182, and so on, and this guitar suits my style very well. If you're looking for a great guitar, look no further. PICK ONE UP TODAY!!!

This is a sweet little guitar. The workmanship is top notch. I have the honey burst and I've looked it over several times and find no significant blemishes to speak of. Of course it's not USA made, but it is still very well built. The only real complaint I have is with the pickups. They are really muddy and I had to take a lot of time to dial in the right tone. However, it should be noted that my other guitar is a strat with texas specials that sounds absolutely heavenly. Still, the stock pickups leave a lot to be desired. Maybe I'll get some money saved up and put some P94's in it or something.

Despite the guitar's electronic short-comings, it is still a well-built guitar, a great bang-for-your-buck, and a great canvas to work with should you decide to make some upgrades.

This guitar is GREAT. You can play anything on this and it will sound great, from Led Zeppelin to even Pat Metheney, no joke. The best part is that it plays just like a real Gibson Les Paul. I gave a 3.5 on the quality because after owning it for about 14 months the electronics slowly started to phase out on me until I had to get all the electronics except the pickups replaced completely. This may be partly due to the fact that it's made in China I got it fixed and it still sounds great. I replaced the tuning keys with metal keystone knobs. The grovers tune up quite well. Weight wise, it's a little lighter than a Gibson, although tonally it's noticeably a bit darker, probably because of the polyurethane finish. Overall, it's a very nice guitar, and very well made. If you want a real Les Paul for a fourth of the Gibson price, then this is your guitar. Don't settle for a cheap knock-off.
