Solid value for the $$$

Have owned and played my '07 Std +top for over 2 years now, purchased new. Although there are some imported guitars in the "LP clone" class that could be slightly better than the Epi for the $$$, the Epi is a "real" Les Paul. when strung properly, the tuners work just fine. the electronics have held up so far.... the pups aren't the best, but certainly adequate for most players if they approach their playing realistically instead of believing every "you must swap out pups immediately on a new Epi" post on forums, reviews, etc. The pup tone is nothing that a simple Danelectro Fish and Chips EQ pedal can't enhance.

Really, that's the only thing I have to say about this guitar. I can only describe it as "warm" and "growly." Makes a growl sound. It's awesome.

I don't own this guitar, and don't know much about Les Pauls, but this one has a really warm and growly sound. Very mellow. Keep that in mind. From other Les Pauls I've played, their sounds can be described as rockin' and screaming. They scream. This thing doesn't, and in personal taste, I love that.

tl;dr Very mellow-sounding, warm guitar, unusual for Les Pauls. Recommended for mellow players.

The guitar looks pretty sweet with its colrful finishes and classy binding, but it just doesnt sound that good. Ive noticed that most epiphones have the same alnico classic pickups. They get th job done, but theyre just really muddy and bland. On clean it doesnt have any pop to it, and distortion is just too bassy. All the epiphone les pauls (including customs) are built the same way. They only change the finsihes and sometimes the pickups (to alnico classisc plus pickups which are still muddy, and just have a little more crunch). Like when you buy a les paul custom classic, its the same as this les paul standard but with those small changes. This means that all across the board, no matter which epi les paul you buy, you will get the same quality. These guitars are built in China in basically an assembly line. They put them together quickly and ship them here. the limited editions are set up (not built) in america, and are still low quality. Input jacks fall out and the nut is always too big ( because theyre all the same guitar). It looks like a real gibson les paul, but it justs lets you down when you play it. Save some more money and get the real thing. Even if it takes you a while. I did, and i could not be happier.

i got this guitar a couple days ago..i had my eye on it for a while..its really beautiful..no picture will do it justice..you have to see every curve and every detail in person!sounds really good clean, you can get some vintage-type sounds.switching to the neck pick-up,you can get good thick clear notes, good for jazz, blues and alot of other styles.middle pick-up would kinda be like crunchy in a way.and bridge pick-up would be bright and dirty.its good for metal when distorted, middle is good for those vintage type sounds, and neck isnt that good sounding distorted, but its ok.the only flaw i had was with one of the tone knobs being to close to the body and rubbing against the finish..but i raised it a little it by sliding my pick under it.hope this helps.just 3 words.BUY THIS GUITAR!

I chose this guitar as my combined Christmas and Birthday present and I think I chose right. I just cant put it down! The feel of the neck is really solid and I like it better than my Strat. The sound it gives with the stock pickus is great. The finish on it is just flawless. Nothing besides changing the strings needs to be done for this guitar to sound great.
