Epiphone has been building quality guitars since 1910 and has based the beautiful Les Paul Classic Quilt Top on one of the most famous guitar designs of all time—the Gibson Les Paul. This guitar, authorized by Gibson, has been painstakingly built 100% to their specs. The mahogany neck, mahogany and alder body, and chrome hardware contribute to the incredibly sweet, signature Les Paul tone. It features a 24-3/4"-scale set neck, 2 open-coil humbucker pickups with a volume and tone control for each, and a 1.68" nut. The fast action, nice sustain, and awesome tone make this highly playable guitar great for any type of music from punk to bluegrass.

What really makes this guitar stand out however, is the flawless finish and arched, quilted maple carved top. So striking is the quilt top that Epiphone gives you the option of leaving off the pick guard, so as not to hide any of the finish. You will receive a complete pickguard setup if you want the traditional look or are a heavy-handed player whose guitar needs the protection! The rosewood fretboard, with trapezoid inlays and body and neck binding, tops off this charmer. No other guitar sounds like the famous Les Paul.

Epi LP classic quilt top discontinued

That's too bad that Epi stoppped making these LP Classic Quilt Tops. I've got the transparent amber and am extremely satisfied with every aspect of this guitar. I collect guitars ... no, I whord guitars, and this is by far my favorite for any rock and/or blues licks. I bought a Gibson LP a year after buying the Epi. I took the Gibson back because I figured that for $3200, the Gibson should at least perform as well as the Epi ... but it didn't. The Alnicos on the Epi don't have the low end crunch like the Gibson LP, but they have amazing tones of their own. The intonation was nearly spot-on off the rack. The Grover tuners keep it in nearly perfect tune for months at a time. I got the action way low on mine, and there's never a problem with fret buzz near the neck joint like on some Epi models. I'd recommend buying one if you're considering doing so. Good luck finding one of these incredible guitars, though. I know I'm never letting go of mine.

I got my Les Paul used, and it was my first. This guitar just blew my mind. Even banged up and from who knows what year, this guitar sounds and feels just like any Gibson I've played. So far, it has been the smartest purchase of my life and will continue to be my favourite guitar.

AS GOOD AS A GIBSON

If these come available buy it. I checked out the Slash model and the only diff is the back of his signature is brown and at the headstock it says SLASH. The tone is to die for. My first LP and I'm blown away. I have a Gretch 5120 and I thought that guitar had great tone(which it does), but this has those great blues rock tones right out the box! Fit, finish & quality is a 10. I researched these and found out Gibson owns Epiphone. So this is as good as their flagship models with some material differences. Minor deal for a $1400.00 savings. Thanks EPIPHONE for putting fantastic quality instruments within the reach of everyday people.

This is a great guitar in every way. Playability, sustain, sound. On top of it all the price is unreal. I do not write reviews, but felt compelled to on this purchase. Could not be happier with the guitar.
