I got this as a gift from my thoughtful wife who knew I was lusting for a more vintage sounding Les Paul to accomodate my hot-rodded Les Paul Classic. This guitar is not a disappointment. The P90s beg to be overdriven and played soulfully. They have alot of that bluesy bite that really make the most out of a tube amp. The neck pickup is astounding! it is crystal clear and smooth but with a tight response. The bridge pickup is a little too bright and dirty for clean playing but sounds awesome with overdrive and distortion. This guitar is perfect for hard rock all the way to jazz. It sounds great and looks fantastic! Mine arrived almost perfectly set-up out of the box with no flaws in either fit or finish and the neck is FAT which I like. Also it has grover tuners and a bone nut from the factory. All-in-all I couldn't be happier. Another great Epiphone!

This guitar exceeded my expectations. It is simply wonderfull to play. I have 2 strats and 2 teles. This now completes my inventory. I have had a hard time putting it down. This guitar is everything you read about in the description. Well worth the investment. I could have had a Gibson for 3500 more, I couldn't justify the difference. If you need an LP get this while it is still available.

This Epiphone Les Paul '57 Goldtop is the first brand new guitar I have ever purchased, and let me say that I am definitely not sorry about it. This guitar is great, even right out of the box. I previously owned a used Strat, which I did like, but this baby is even better. I like the single coil sound of the P-90s and the action is smooth as silk and lightning quick. I was surprised to see that it has Grover tuners on it, I was expecting something cheaper. Also, the finish on it is spectacular, what a shining beauty. Even though it played great right out of the box, I am still taking it over to my guitar guru to have him give it a once over and set it up with 10s. I have no regrets for buying this, I am disappointed that Epi is discontinuing this model. Musicians Friend was great to work with for ordering and shipping too, I would definitely buy another guitar from these guys in the future without any hesitation. My advice, run out and buy one before they are all gone.

Excellent Guitar

I waited a year to write my review, I bought this guitar here for a special gig I needed to play well at. I wanted a Gibson but the cheapest was $800 and didn't impress me at all, this did. The color was great I love P-90's and the bridge and tail piece locked. I played it along side a 1972 Les Paul pro and they truly sounded the same through a Marshall Half stack. over the year I've owned it i found a few minor things i don't like: I wish the tuners locked, every thing else does, there was a tiny smudge in the rear red finish onto the neck binding and the bridge rattles a little with new strings. There are very minor. I plan to mod mine but nothing against sound just for looks to make it custom, I will own this guitar forever.
