Monster Energy

I got this Epiphone Les Paul Custom with a black finish back about two years ago, and this beast still feels great in my hands. I threw an EMG 81 in the neck and an EMG 85 in the bridge and this thing sounds like a MONSTER. I would definately recommend picking this guitar up to any southpaw, definitely worth the price.

Excellent buy for the performing lefty

I have had this guitar for 2+ years and in that time have played many live shows and countless hours of studio work. The pickups are ok out of the box, but a pair of Burstbuckers and new pots make the guitar really sing. It required a full setup at delivery, but once done, I would put it close to my 73 Gibson LP Custom (minus a few thousand dollars). This is a great guitar for the money, highly rated for a lefty. I have been playing for 40 years so this isn't a teenager's review, it's well worth the money.

Decent Studio Guitar

I bought this guitar about a year and a half ago now and it's held up nicely. The gold finish on the pickups and hardware starts to fade after about 6 months, and the frets start to show wear. As far as tone, it's decent, but nothing close to a Gibson. The price is too much for this thing, it's much to heavy to have great stage presence live, and it's just plain old average.

You can't always make lemonade

I purchased this guitar with the intention of keeping my Les Paul at home. Although the black finish with the gold hardware is beautiful, the quality of that hardware leaves a lot to be desired. Despite setting up the action to Epiphone specs (and verifying intonation), I still have fret buzz at the 2nd and 3rd frets on the A string whenever I bend a note. The saddle screws also rattled, and the only fix for that was to shove debris into the briddge to make it stop. Also, the bridge pickup cover rattles if you play it for long periods of time. I would expect issues like this with a lower end guitar, but not one in this price range. I know lefties can't get too picky, but IMHO if you're going to buy Epiphone, I wouldn't recommend this specific guitar.

This guitar rocks. I picked one up in March of 2007 and it rocks my world. I do see some imperfecitons in the quaility of the guitar itself, but the sound is what is important, and when it comes to sound you can't beat this guitar.
