Little Killer

Sounds very mean and classic. Pure classic rock. On mine I leveled the frets and replaced the pots, but that's all it needed. I have never gigged with this guitar [least versatile electric I own], but I use it for recording at least a couple times per week in my home studio. It is the ultimate for thick chords, big lead tone, slide... it owns that bridge pickup nasty overdriven tone - the tone most people are thinking of when they just say "guitar". The pickup is unbelievably great. It is a very hot with lots of wire and a powerful ceramic magnet. It rams its character into just about any amp and ensures gritty, filthy overdrive. Great great GREAT guitar. BTW most of my guitars are exponentially more expensive than this one but it is one of my favorites.

Epiphone, Gibson, Marshall... all companies your investing into for the name. I picked this guitar up at a Guitar Center, plugged it into an Egnater, and played a few songs. The fret buzz is crazy, so if you play a chord, it sounds extemely muddy. I plugged it into the amp next to me, wondering if I just got a bad amp, and it STILL sounded horrible! The knobs felt like they were going to fall off, the finish peeled off, and that's just the beginning! Really, Epiphone, if you want more customers, make better instruments. Maybe if you are in the back of a van on tour, you could play a few things, but don't bother using it on stage or for band practices.

If you're thinking of getting the LP Junior Special by Epiphone, do it! This guitar is a beauty! I got it for my birthday a year ago, and it's STILL going strong! I'm in the process of modifying it with a P-90 pickup and a different pick guard, but it sounds great as is for those who don't wanna go through the trouble of modification. The only two problems: 1. as all guitars do, it goes out of tune often. That's just a side effect you'll have to live with. And 2. if you take the knobs off and put them back on, they'll fall off often somewhere along the line. I know. It's happened to me. Otherwise, buy this guitar!!!

Convinient for the price

I bought this axe with the silver finish a few years back on a whim for a backup to my '85 Gibson Explorer and I was blown away by it's playability. I actually started playing it more than my Gibson because I am clumsy and I wasn't afraid to knock it around. When I went to California I lent it to my uncle who still has it. I adjust it and play it every chance I get but the neck seems to be warping a bit. nothing a minor truss rod adjustment could fix. The reason it got a 4 on features is because the tuning heads are a bit shoddy and there is only one pick-up. The controls seem to be a bit inadequate as well but I usually just keep the tone knob cranked or at half mast depending on what I'm playing and the volume I use as a kill switch for breaks between songs. I highly recommend it for anyone who owns more expensive gear and doesn't want damage in bars/parties.
