The Epiphone Korina 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar has a riff-friendly 24-3/4" scale mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. 2 humbuckers give it its rock 'n roll voice with 2 volumes, one tone knob, and 3-way switch for shifting from rhythm to high-altitude leads. Swept-back body is made of korina wood, which is lighter and brighter than mahogany and promotes resonance. i traded a old epiphone les paul 100 for this guitar AND A CASE!!!! sounds ike a good deal right but there are some flaws ok when i bought this guitar i had short time becuz of a busy schedule and only was able to play this guitar for 2 minutes and one thing i forgot to do was check the pickup selections and as it turns out the neck pickup is shot to death im talking THIS SUCKER IS DEAD!!!! but anyways it was made in korea in 98' and i reely love this guitar the action is pretty low so tapping is a breeze. the guitar needs a new nut and has to be setup cuz of a little fret buzz but to any one wanting this guitar BUY IT!!!

I've owned this guitar for 9 months. I bought it because 1. LOOK at it! 2. I knew I could "hot-rod" it with better pickups, electronics etc. 3. I needed a backup guitar for live shows. I was playing "SoCal punk/hardcore" at the time. Sadly, one gig later the band was history...Anyhow, I haven't changed anything on it yet (money issues). Before I list my gripes with this guitar, please understand that I've been spoiled on my '78 Gibson Les Paul for a long time. Nothing can touch it; it's my baby. That said, here goes... 1.The dead spots on the fretboard. 2. The awful nut. It's huge! 3. Pickup switch is finicky. KEEP IN MIND though, this IS an Epiphone and these kind of quirks are a given. Once I get a bone nut, fret dress, pickup switch and a bridge pickup (the factory one sounds funky, the neck PU is fine), it should be pretty nice. As it is, I pick this thing up daily and really like it. It's bold yet classy. Buy it!

All of my reviews I've waited over a year before posting, this is no exception. This guitar is simply the best I've ever owned. I currently own an American Strat and a retired/broken Epiphone Les Paul Custom. This guitar has since become the replacement for my Les Paul Custom. It handles any musical genre I throw at it. Being into prog rock there's nothing this baby can't handle. It's got a more midrange sound than a les paul. The treble setting seems to have alot more bite as well. But flip the toggle and you've got yourself some creamy blues or jazz tones. Ultimately I would recommend this guitar to anyone, but I know that some people are turned off by the quirky shape. I assure you it plays well standing up and sitting down.

I bought this guitar 11 years ago and its probably one of the best I own out of my collection. Nice, solid body, great feel to the neck, and the pickups are excellent. No need to swap them out for something else. The clear coat has picked up a few nicks, but that's part of the game.
