Gibson quality at an epiphone price

I bought my explorer second hand from a pawn shop, mainly where I get everything nowadays, and the one thing that caught my eye was the fact that this was a set neck guitar and it came with grover tuners. I owned a schecter v with grover tuners and the thing just stayed in tune no matter how hard I pounded at it. Once bought i upgraded the stock pickups with a seymour duncan 59 in the neck and a dimebucker pickup in the bridge, add a crybaby from hell and the dan donegan weapon pedal and you get a sound collaboratioln of metallica, pantera and disturbed, couldn't be happier even with my marshall cab and head. Buy it, upgrade the pickups, and be proud of what you own.

This is just one of those guitars that gives you an awful lot for very little cost. It's fairly light, very comfortable, has a great neck, and it sounds great unplugged; a telling sign of quality. Plugged in, the stock pickups do a fine job and are very versatile, but they are the one thing worth changing. However, there's no need to hurry, as they kick the heck out of the other lower end factory pickups on the market. I am putting an EMG 81/60 set in it, moving the switch to the second knob position, and have sanded the back of the neck for a smooth feel. Mod away, because if you want a good Explorer, this one's here to stay!

i havn't actually used this guitar, but ive played my friend's goth les paul. im pretty sure the pickups are the same so there souldnt be too much of a difference there. and i've played explorers, and im a long time dean ml fan, so i know from experence that its a comfy guitar. and this is by far one of my favourite finishes put on an epi. personally i would prefer a dean over this, so thats why im getting a dean ml79 this summer. but along with that im probly getting the blackbolt. but i am considering this instead of the blackbolt.

RIP DIME

End All, Be-All of Explorers

I got this guitar for Christmas, and it has been hard to peel myself from it ever since. I play it through a Peavey Vypyr 75 and occasionally a Dunlop Classic Crybaby Wah, and it amazes me every time. The pickups are absolutely killer, and the looks are even more so. Alongside the Gibson counterpart, this guitar will never fail to win.
