I've had this guitar for several months now, loved it ever since I took it out of the box. Sounds excellent no matter what type of music you play, but for metal it sounds awesome with a Boss ML-2. My only issues against this guitar is that it is top heavy and when you have strap locks, on the sling hook nearest the guitar neck, it is tilted some and causes wear on your guitar sling. But with a tough leather strap, this guitar is an amazing buy for anyone with a gothic taste

I've had this guitar for two years now. It was my first guitar and I got a REALLY good value off this! It's the perfect guitar for rock and metal players alike! The picture does it no justice because it is a lot more beautiful in person. The pickups had great tone, though later I replaced them for Passive EMGs. It's easy to sit down with and it's tough and won't damage easy (trust me, mine has been through rough times) AND has an easy out-of-the-box action. The only complaint it gets is that it isn't balanced correctly and the neck leans down all the time. But don't let that discourage you. The Explorer is one of my all time favorites. You will not be disappointed!

This guitar is simply amazing, it sounds great unplugged and it just looks so brutal too. This is definitely my favorite guitar that i own. Some fret buzz on the low e string but that's probably just me. The lead guitarist for my band actually prefers to play this guitar over his own, and I'm a vocalist. Make sure you buy this guitar if you want it, because you will not regret it.

This guitar is amazing. First, it looks brutal if you're a hard rock/metal fan. The finish is extremely durable. I've bumped it against the wall/door quite a few times and the finish still looks new. It sounds great too. If you're a more advanced player, you will probably want to replace the pickups, but for stock they sound pretty good. The strings should definitely be the first thing to go. The only issue I had was the the input jack was not properly installed at the factory (made in China) and I had to unscrew it, line it up the right way and then retighten. You should check this upon arrival, but it's a super easy fix and no problems after it's checked. The action was a little high for my taste, but once again, easy fix. This guitar looks and sounds great, has strong/durable hardware and is easy to tweak if you're not happy with factory settings. The fretboard is probably my favorite part of it. The XII inlay looks sic, and the fretboard is a very dark colored wood that has a nice warmth to it and blends very well with the rest of the guitar. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a metal guitar.

Gibson quality at an epiphone price

I bought my explorer second hand from a pawn shop, mainly where I get everything nowadays, and the one thing that caught my eye was the fact that this was a set neck guitar and it came with grover tuners. I owned a schecter v with grover tuners and the thing just stayed in tune no matter how hard I pounded at it. Once bought i upgraded the stock pickups with a seymour duncan 59 in the neck and a dimebucker pickup in the bridge, add a crybaby from hell and the dan donegan weapon pedal and you get a sound collaboratioln of metallica, pantera and disturbed, couldn't be happier even with my marshall cab and head. Buy it, upgrade the pickups, and be proud of what you own.
