Epi Firefly 30 DSP

In a nut shell, beautiful exterior looks abound in this heavy amp. Its solid, easy to use. As others have stated, looks are deceiving as tonal wise, it is dead. I can only find a nice sound when I use my Fender Tele and Strat, Taylor T5, but never with a humbucker. So sad as Epiphone would have a killer amp if they spent the time to have listened to what they put out and made it worth while. Someone in RA/QA should be fired for allowing the design engineer to pass the amp. Sorry Epiphone/Gibson, as I love the Lucille and Sheraton II that I own, but not your amp. If you want good sound, pass on this amp please, but if you want a shell to change out the inerds, this is it.

A Fun Yet Solid Amp

I use a Fender Blues DeLuxe, but it runs too loud in my house. I have a 15 watt Fender G-DEC but it runs too soft. This Epiphone Firefly - which I bought purely for looks - it suits me fine. I agree with the other guy who wrote that it's muddy with PAF Humbuckers. But I have a standard American Fender Strat and a Mexican Strat with Texas Specials and they sing big time on this amp. My Les Paul is better on the Fender equipment. The DSP effects are metsa-metsa but the overdrive is real nice and the optional reverb adds a nice depth. I recommend it 100% for a pretty to look at and yet a good workhorse amp.

I’m a lead electric guitarist in a band and I’ve been playing guitar plus a number of other stringed instruments for about 5-6 years now. Before I got the Epiphone Firefly 30DSP 30W I was using a 15W Marshall Amp. The firefly amp is obviously a big step up but this amp definitely has a lot more crunch to it when needed and it can be a lot more clean sounding. At first I didn't like it and thought it sounded muddy, but that’s probably because I’m using an Epiphone Les Paul with humbucker pickups. Because of this it took a while to adjust it right, but I finally got it to where I want it. I was also comparing a 30W Vox amp with the firefly but I didn't like the Vox because it had way to many useless options/effects, don't get me wrong, I think Vox amps are really good, but for about $60-$70 cheaper I would rather use my own pedals that I can better adjust. Overall I would recommend buying this amp if you want a simple amp with good sound.

I got this amp when they first came out. Fantastic clean sound. Distortion in just Ok. Add some delay and it gets better. I loved this amp, but ended up selling it to get a Triggerman 60 for more power, 12 inch speaker and a direct out. Part of me wishes I would have kept the Firefly. Such a great amp for the money. Highly recommned it.

The effects are cheezy, it's big, and sucks!! I love the valve jr stuff but this reeks with cheapness. Get a valve jr head and a mesa cab. This is an awesome setup!
