Epiphone AJ 200CE Acoustic-Electric guitar

I had bougth an AJ-200CC last october in Miami, Fl. Now the instrument is destroyed in the neck very close to the string keys head. I've sent it to repare and found many Epiphones made in China with the exactly same damage. If you see this part of the guitar you will find that is too weak to bear the string pression. I live in Cordoba, Argentina and I don't know if I can claim to Epiphone directly, but my advice is: do not buy this guitar made in China.

Acoustically Great

I have played Gibson and Epiphone guitars since 1953 when I got my first Gibson (an ES350T which I still have. This new guitar is fantastic acoustically, but the preamp eats batteries and one of the plug ins has considerable noise. I never thought I would compare Gibson to anything but I will shop around a lot before I ever purchase another Epiphone. I can't understand why Gibson would use such a crappy pickup on such a nice instrument.

Plug it in

Okay, it doesn't compare favorably to my Taylor Jumbo...until I plug it in! I play fingerstyle almost exclusively, and acousticly it doesn't have that mellow low-end the Taylor has. But plugged in, this is hands-down my favorite guitar of the 6 I have. I'd bet a rock-a-billy player would love this guitar.

A local dealer had four of these on the floor. The one with the best finish had a warped neck and a defective preamp. I picked out one that had a very nice finish (natural) and had it set up by the dealer with Elixir lights. The set up was perfect once completed, but the preamp would not shut off and and ate batteries. It had to be replaced. The guitar now plays and sounds fine. I like it very much. I have 10 guitar including a Gibson LP Vintage mahogany, a Larivee OM-10 and an US made Ovation elite. This guitar is a good value if its right. The warranty covered everything except the strings of course. I recommend this guitar, but wouldn't buy it w/o trying it first.

Beautiful Guitar for the Money

It is NOT a Taylor, It is NOT a Martin, It is NOT a Gibson....It IS an Epiphone. I'm an active guitarist and have never owned a Martin, Taylor, or a Gibson guitar, but I have owned and still own guitars in this price range and this is one GREAT guitar. Bought the sunburst finish and it is beautiful. It was delivered it without a scratch. The fingerboard inlays are also stunning. However, the action was a little high for my taste...so dropped it a little....did a little adjustment with the trussrod and acoustically it played and sounded great; when I finally plugged it in I could not get the nanomag pickup to work...loosened strings and check connections...never would work. This is a low/mid-priced acoustic/electric guitar-it is beautiful, but quality is you get what you pay for...if you want a high end sound...buy a high end guitar....I would buy another one of these!
