Any lower priced guitar will do better with bone nut, saddle and bridge pins. And a better set of strings. So it is with the Dove. You EXPECT to do that unless you don't know guitars. It's maple, so it's gonna be bright, not vintage martin dreadnaught bluegrass boomy. But, with decent set up, which you have to do with all guitars, the right strings and some bone..this guitar sounds fine. Mine is only a couple of months old, and is sounding bigger and deeper than when it first arrived. Tusq makes a nice nut.. fits right in.. preslotted. Same with the saddle..and bridge pins are right here. I build guitars, electrics. I've played guitar since 1964 or 65. I've owned a lot of acoustics over the years. Not ashamed of this one bit. Plays great, frets are nice, workmanship is detailed, look is very sweet and the sound is very nice and above it's price range. I'll be adding a piezo. I'd buy another anytime. Don't be snobby about it, if this is your price range, this is an excellent choice. I'm satisfied and I'm picky.

I bought this guitar last year. It is a solid guitar. I play alot of Seether, Staind, and ect. So if you like that type music I know it works well for it. Stays in tunes well. Easy to play. Sounds good. I would buy it again.

This was a Christmas gift for our 17 yr old daughter and she was so happy! We were so afraid of getting a guitar that she wouldn't be pleased with, but we did good. It's a beautiful guitar and sounds good to me. I'm not an expert at choosing guitars, we mainly went by the look of it and what the salesman said about it, even though they'd say anything is great. After she opened all her presents, I snuck in and laid it on her bed and said "Hey, I think I heard Santa in the bedroom". She went in and saw it and screamed with joy! I'm so glad we got it for her. She had no idea, it was a huge surprise. She played it all day. She's only been playing a year and it's so good to hear your child playing music. She's very happy to have this Dove guitar. For the price, it was worth it. She had a happy Christmas! The guitar is beautiful with the red back and sides and natural color front. It's like a work of art. I think we made a good decision. She says it sounds better than her Ibenez she has.

A GREAT guitar at any price!

I have purchased many guitars, I purchased this Epiphone Dove for my daughter because she wants to learn to play. I found no problem whatsoever with the string height, in fact, it was better than my Taylor acoustic which was professionally set up. Maybe they fixed that issue, no fret buzz, the action was low and sustain was excellent. The fit and finish were flawless. I honestly thought for a moment I was sent a much more expensive guitar by mistake. My advice, if you are on the fence, buy this guitar, you will have no regrets.
