Worn Cherry Black Worn Vintage Sunburst Arctic White

The Epiphone Dot Studio Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar builds on Epiphone's great tradition of archtops such as the legendary Sheraton and Emperor. Simplified controls and minimalist styling provide great functionality and elegant visual appeal while powerful Vintage Alnico V Plus pickups give it plenty of bite.

Drawing on the classic 335 vibe, with mahogany top, back, sides, and set neck, the Dot Studio guitar dishes out hot blues and rock when overdriven or thick jazz tones clean. The scale length is 24-3/4", with a nut width of 1-17/25". The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece provide more sustain and string changing easier.

Epiphone Dot Studio Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar Features:

  • Laminated mahogany top, back, and sides
  • Set maple neck
  • Semi-hollow construction
  • Vintage Alnico V plus pickups
  • Rosewood fretboard
  • LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece

I reviews this a couple years ago.. already having it for 9 months. Great guitar. I've got a bunch and I sometimes forget how great this is until I pick it up again.

Couple of changes to my old review;

The acoustic tone has grown on me. Maybe the wood has just matured. I've got a couple old (60s old) plywood semi-hollow bodies and this sounds much more full. The others are real lawsuit Gibson rip-offs so they're decent guitars.

I did get the Duncan Hot-Rodded Humbucker set, JB bridge and Jazz neck. They nice pickups and they really didn't make much of a difference. I didn't realize how good the Epiphone pickups were until I did an apples-to-apples comparison.

Great Guitar. I can't recommend it enough at the usually discounted price.

Ohh let me start to tell you that this is my first review over an instrument. I've been playing for 5 yrs and in a Christian Worship Band...this guitar sings like no other...I wanted a good rythem guitar and mann every string you play gives a full and warm feeling...may not be a leading guitar but def a good back up guitar...plus it looks amazing...only thing it will prob sound even better replacing the pick ups and for cosmetics for maybe a chrome finish...amazing guitar so happy with this purchase

i bought this guitar as something to fiddle around with. i swapped the pickups for gibson dirty finger hum buckers, changed the neck to a Tom DeLonge ES-333 neck, put a les paul bridge on it. but before customizing it, i played it for about a week. my other awesome guitars collected dust. it plays very great for blues, rock and alternative and a little pop bit i bought it as a backup for my Tom DeLonge ES-333 and it wasn't quite right so i made the adjustments. if you play blues, rock, poop or alternative get it you wont regret. the finish is beautiful, very light weight, easy axes to the upper frets, not so comfortable bridge for palm muting (and i do that allot) the size is very nice, Im 16 and i can fit it perfectly. I placed the neck on a old guitar just for hahas and im playing it again. so i guess you could say the neck is very fast. like i said before its not built for every style unless you make adjustments.

After Set Up, A Dream Guitar

I purchased one used because the pickups--particularly the bridge pickup--sounded so full and rich and 3-dimensional. With lighter strings, it is a blues monster. I had my guy set it up with 11's and it plays better jazz tones than my Epiphone Joe Pass. In fact, I recently sold the Joe Pass because this humble, stripped-down axe does everything I ever wanted a guitar to do.

I play a lot of fundamental blues-jazz stuff in the style of Freddie Green, Wes Montgomery (I can dream, can't I??) Allman Brothers, etc. I feel VERY strongly that Ephiphone is making some of the finest, friendliest instruments in the biz.

Only one warning: this is a risky online purchase because of its low-budget construction. You will want to check it out in a store--some set up, especially with intonation, is inevitable. But for the money, it is well worth the investment.

This is a great guitar. It has a great sound and finish. It plays good with the amp and without it. This was the first electric guitar I brought, and the more times I have payed other guitars, I've been noticing that this is a even more great guitar. The dot studio is a real easy guitar to play, it has great action and smooth playability. The only problem is that it has only one volume and tone knobs. But except for that, this is a great guitar. I would like to buy another one of this.
