I'd been looking for a budget semi-hollowbody guitar for some time. This was one of the last gaps in my tone palette before I considered it complete. I had played guitars from Ibanez, Samick, Johnson, Washburn, Agile to name a few. In the end, I decided on the Epi Dot based on past experience with the brand. Am I glad I did! This guitar is my baby, and you'd have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers!

Great value. Was suprised @ the quality of the instrument. Played for 25+ years. Own several guitars from Gibson, Fender, one Hamer and one other Epi. The Epi Dot standard holds it's own against the best of them. If you're looking for a NICE semi-hollow, but don't want to drop a couple grand on the Gibson 335, this is the way to go. Sound is great. Better than i expected anyway. Keepin' the stock pups. It growls through my Vox AC100CPH. Finish is ALMOST flawless. Better than other makes in this price range.

Great guitar and great value, but....

I've owned my Epiphone Dot for a few years now, and play it almost daily. I love the feel, the sound, the weight and the "playability" of the fretboard.

My only complaint about this guitar (and all Epiphone's) is the pick-up switch. I have owned two Epiphone Emperor's, and I currently own the Dot and an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra, and all four Epiphones have the same defective switches. After a few months or a perhaps a year, they stop working properly and I cannot get one or both of my pick-ups to stay on without static or no sound at all. Epiphone needs to upgrade the quality of their switches and use fully enclosed switches that will be less prone to dust and corrosion.
