Great tone for the price

I have been playing the DR 100 sunburst every day for a year now.Set up out of the box is not the greatest for a beginner. The action is way too high, and the strings should be replaced with a lighter set of your choosing. Lowering the action and changing strings will increase the playability immensely. After six months the headstock has twisted slightly, but not enough to be noticeable or affect playability.I have played several other acoustic guitars at 2-4 times the price that do not project the rich, deep tones of the Epi DR100. Its a good one to consider if you're just starting out because it's inexpensive, the quality is there, and the sound is sweet. You will be hard pressed to find better quality and sound in it's price range.Musician's Friend shipped immediately and was received in perfect condition.

I've been playing guitar for 30 years, and I've owned very expensive guitars and amps with both hand made customs and big brand names, and this gem ranks right up there with the lot of them:) The sound is great, the price is great, the workmanship is great, and for many playing styles, a taylor or vintage gibson or martin won't sound any better! It's all about the player, as long as the guitar stays in tune, and feels and looks right to you, that's all that matters! I went to the music store to play another guitar that was listed online used, and walked away with this one. It's my experience that most high end big brand names that cost 10 times more, need too long of age and playing to sing right away, this wasn't the case with the Epi DR-100. Sung for me right away, and was strung with elixers already! As with any guitar, try it out first, but there's really no reason to be unhappy with this guitar:)

i own a rare 1971 Epiphone acoustic and figured i like the way it plays and feels but i cant take her anywhere. so i got this DR-100. out of the box it was nice, action a bit high but it held heavy strings so that was a quick fix. the quality not as good as back in '71, my 6830 tops the DR in sound quality, and the fret edges are sharp so watch out sliding. overall a good guitar and cheap too!

I thought what the heck, I get free shipping plus a $10 coupon, so for $89 how can I go wrong? After opening the box and having a look, it was the usual lifelong Epiphone quality, and almost in tune!, anyway I it gave a few strums and I had to look at the model number to make sure I recieved the right guitar, this sounds and plays really nice! The guitar finish was OK for the price,I opted for the natural sunburst and it feels very light! I put some D'addario light phosphor bronze strings on and was I amazed! what a bright "Chingy" crisp lively sound, with a nice mid bass. Its set up good better than most, and when you put on new string, make sure you put them on properly! and after a few tugs, it should stay in tune as good as any guitar on your block. This is a great value for beginners, or a guitar that doesn't need to be babied, because of the amazing price. I wish this was my first guitar when I started playing at 10 in the early 60's.

this guitar is simply amazing. i bought it in 2003 as my first guitar and its still my main acoustic guitar. this thing has been all acrossed the country and gotten beat up and dropped and still plays like a champ. i don't think you can find a better beginner guitar than this. i highly recommend this to anyone. soon i'll be upgrading to a taylor acoustic but i'll never get rid of this guitar.
