I got this guitar about a year ago from my local shop. I was amazed how well it played and how good it sounded for the price. The guitar is extremely versatile. I use it to play punk with lots of distortion, as well as indy music with a nice clean tone. The guitar always sounds good. My only criticism would be that when I first got the guitar, the input jack was very loose. Because there is no backplate, I could not fix this problem myself. I had to take it to the shop where they had to do the repair through the f-holes. While this repair was free, it seems like that should be taken care of before it leaves the factory. Other than that, I love this guitar. I play it through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and it sounds so good.

I've owned many guitars, and several semi-hollow/hollow body guitars. This deluxe model is the best bang for the buck of any guitar I've ever owned. The neck is thick, but not too thick. Action and playability is outstanding. The humbuckers have a surprisingly good tone, and the construction/finish is first rate. Buy this guitar, you will not find a better one for the money.

I a/b'ed this next to a Gibson 335 for about an hour through a valve junior, because it was the most similar amp in the store to my Gibson GA-5.
Here's the big thing... the neck is FLAT and THIN... so if you're looking for a beefy neck, don't look here. HOWEVER, I too was looking for a beefy neck but instead found this thin neck to be incredibly fast and comfortable.
The fret work is excellent and the fingerboard binding is very well done. The only blemish is one area of finish bleeding on the binding by the right bout.
The pickups were surprisingly good and the thing stays in tune after hours of albert king bends so I'm not even going to change those out.
Acoustically, it doesn't have the body or depth of a real 335... but other than that I can't really justify spending $2000 more for the Gibson version. This guitar really nails it, and at a very fair price.

I've owned an Epiphone Dot Deluxe for about 3 years now. I had wanted another guitar to keep at a weekend home, ...I figured that a semi-hollow body would be cool, and the price seemed right. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I'd find the instrument preferable to my Gibson Les Pauls.
The Dot Deluxe is an absolute dream to play. Workmanship is excellent, she's pretty as can be, light and comfortable, and after a little tweeking the action is perfect. I bought her a nice Gator tweed 335 case with whorehouse plush pink lining (a tight squeeze due to the large Epiphone headstock, but she fits), and she now goes where I go (and the LPs rarely come out of their cases).
Cosmetically, the only thing that bothered me was the cheesy Epiphone logo on the pickguard, but with the slightest pressure it came right off as it's only attached with crap adhesive. The lumber matching on the flametop isn't as meticulous as on a Gibson, but you'll only notice that on close inspection, and it's still a pretty touch. No binding on the neck, and the "binding" on the body appears to be painted on (fake).
The electronics could stand to be upgraded. For the price of some new pickups and pots the DD could be dramatically improved, but the instrument itself is solid and sexy. Gold hardware has held up well, and the tuners are, ..well, Grover. No complaints from me.
The Dot Deluxe is not a 335. If you're looking for the real thing the Dot isn't going to do it for you. That said, the Dot is an excellent semi-hollow body, offered at an amazing price.
The bang to buck ratio is extreme with this instrument. Buy one, ..especially if you're having second thoughts. The only thing you'll ever regret about this purchase is NOT making it.

I had played this very same guitar in a local shop and for the price I figured as long as it got to my hands undamaged with everything tight and no major scratches I could adjust her play like I like it. Well no fooling guys this arrived looking better than a $1000 dollar date and she was all mine all the time. After working some majic with a piece of black Walrus Tusk for a bit lower and tighter fitting nut, a set of D'Addario Half Rounds, then to top it off after winning a Roland GR-20 guitar synth with GK-3 pickup in a hand of poker I dropped the GK-3 on board this sweet number.
Now I'm doing things I know my first guitar teacher and my guitar hero, the one and only "Mr.Guitar - Mr. Chet Atkins", all would be smiling upon.
Only a short time owner but a long time lover of these guitars.
I see no reliabilty issues with this guitar, it's construction is solid as a rock and as a luthier I can tell you it's a dream to set-up.
