Sunburst

The Epiphone AlleyKat Ltd Electric Guitar a citified kitty. Though the AlleyKat archtop guitar has the same body design as the WildKat, it's got big, elegant pearl bars inlaid in the fretboard and a daintier, simple stopbar bridge setup. The '57 humbucker at the bridge and a New York mini-humbucker at the neck make the AlleyKat Ltd a guitar that treads easily in the smoother, slicker, jazzier realms of the night.

Epiphone includes a Tune-o-matic bridge and chrome hardware with your AlleyKat Ltd.

I got this guitar for christmas and I love it. I have played a good bit of guitars and I think this one is the easiest to adjust the settings. I personally think that its easier to complete bends than a Les Paul and it has that country chord feel of a Martin Acoustic. If I had to say this is worth every penny that you pay.(But adjust the plugs nut. It comes loose a little bit)

Great Guitar

I bought this guitar because I really liked the way it looked (I got the Cherryburst). Second, I bought it knowing that I would mod it to the max. It is a decent guitar stock, but you can make this into a great gigging guitar. The mini and the full humbucker is a different setup, but it can really work well if you install good pickups. I like the ones I put in, but I'm sure there are tons of different options. I replaced almost everything (Seymour Duncan SM-1 neck, Gibson Burstbucker Pro bridge, Tone Pro Bridge and tailpeice, bone nut, switch, tuners, and knobs). It will definentely need to be setup professionally. I love this guitar. It has a great sound for classic rock, hard rock, country, or blues. It will also do metal, but I'm sure no metal head will even consider this guitar. I love the outcome of my project guitar. If you are buying it to keep stock you may not be extremely impressed, but dont get me wrong it is a well made guitar (stock, it lacks in tone). I love the guitar and the vibe of the guitar. Good luck with yours, I love mine.

Always a pleasure

I purchased this because I did not have a semi- or full-hollow yet. I was shooting for something that would "get the job done", so to speak. I ended up with far more than a utilitarian instrument. I have noticed several complaints regarding the electronics, but I must say mine are not worth complaining about. My solidbody is a Gibson Nighthawk, which is why this particular guitar caught my eye- I'm in love with mini-humbuckers.

Comparing the electronics on the two: -The Gibson humbuckers are better, yes. Are the humbuckers on this guitar BAD? Not by any stretch. I can get some absolutely gorgeous tone out of it. Recommendation? On a tube amp, of course, turn the bass up towards the top of its range, the treble a few notches below the bass, and the mid below half. Take the tone knob on the guitar and drop it to 3. -The switch is fine. Again, compared to my Gibson, not a whole lot worth noting negatively. It moves a bit, but it's easy to fix if it ever really annoys me. -The input jack tends to wiggle a bit, the screws on the plate come loose a bit as well. Not worth worrying about, in my opinion, as it does not affect playing the instrument. -Pots? Silent as a mute.

As a whole, the guitar is a grand little fellow. I play jazz with it, solely. I must say that, though perhaps a full hollow with a larger size would acquire better tone, I'm not going to go out and buy a new guitar. This one is a joy and has the tone I'm looking for. I may upgrade the neck mini just to see how great it can sound, but it's not necessary. The neck is smooth, fast, and the frets wear beautifully. Mine have worn picture perfectly. The bridge is solid and the tuners are fine. It holds proper intonation well, and stays in tune well after.

One hot Kat

Got this guitar and a free set-up. Right from the beginning I was in love. I have the trans black. The wood grain shows very subtly through the black and the chrome contrasts for a very classy look. Definitely compares to the finish on much higher end axes. The bridge pick-up was a little weak for me, so I slapped in a Gibson dirty fingers. The NY Mini works surprisingly well for a stock pickup. And the combination of the two adds for near limitless tonal possibilities. (I can go from Fugazi to The Beatles with no trouble at all)

Tuners are fantastic, small look adds to the vintage aesthetic. Overall the only thing lacking for the price are the electronics.

I love this guitar! Let me say that again I love this guitar! I have several others including Fender and Gibson, but this is the perfect one for me semi-hollow body but small and manageable. The pickups with a mini and a full humbucker gives you so much tone variety making this guitar sing. The only bad part I can find is the cheap switch and pots but a simple upgrade will make this the favorite girl in my arsenal. Seriously my 335 just sits there now becasue I can keep my hands of this kat.
