Ebony, Back Ebony, Close Angle Headstock, Closeup Gigbag Edge Certificate

This limited edition Les Paul Standard was created by Epiphone to aid Music Rising, the charity helping to replace instruments and gear lost by New Orleans musicians in the devastation of hurricane Katrina. Musician's Friend is honored to partner with Gibson to help reverse the devastation suffered by the Crescent City's music community.

Adorned with a Music Rising graphic designed by U2's The Edge who co-founded the charity, all proceeds from the sale of this guitar will go to Music Rising. A special inscription on the headstock reads: "Rebuilding Note by Note." The inscription on the belly reads: "MUSIC RISING - INSTRUMENTS FOR THE GULF COAST."

Each instrument includes a Custom Music Rising gig bag and a certificate of authenticity hand-signed by The Edge.

The Gulf Coast has contributed more to modern music than perhaps any other U.S. region, and it has had a lasting impact on the entire world. Along with the great loss of life and property during the hurricanes Katrina and Rita, thousands of musicians lost their instruments and their livelihood along with those instruments. By purchasing the Music Rising Les Paul Standard, you will not only help repay the musical debt we all owe to the Crescent City, but will also become the proud owner of a guitar that commemorates America's commitment to its artists.

More about Music Rising
Music Rising is a national campaign created by U2's The Edge, producer Bob Ezrin, Gibson Guitar Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz along with support from Guitar Center Music Foundation and MusiCares. Inaugural partners MusiCares, Gibson Guitar, Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, VH-1 Networks, MTV Networks, Rolling Stone Magazine, The Kennedy/Marshall Company, Ticketmaster, and Live Nation constitute the most dynamic and comprehensive organized group to launch a relief program since the Hurricanes hit the United States. The campaign's goal is to help rebuild the musical heart and culture of the Gulf Region by replacing the musical instruments and gear that were lost in the hurricane season of 2005. Music Rising will continue to be administered by The Gibson Foundation.

"These guitars provide funding to buy instruments for the Katrina impacted schools and churches of the gulf coast. How cool is that?" Edge.

I live in London and was shocked by the devastation of Katrina and bought the guitar to help the musicians get instruments again. We owe so much to the region for the music we listen to. The guitar sounds really good and the design by The Edge is great. The quality of the finish is not so good but this really does not matter-it is money for the cause. Great idea.

a great guitar, bar none

This guitar has all the right things going for just the right cause. Famous Les Paul sustain with that thick, creamy, tone. Perfect for blues. The neck feels powerful and milking each note just feels right. With the Grover tuners and new locking parts on the tune-o-matic bridge, you can. The neck is thin which is great and easy on the shorter fingers. The only trouble I had was that a tone nob came to me loose, the plug in jack needs to be screwed in once in a while, and the tone is really weak on mine at the 15th fret. Simply put, this guitar is a great guitar for a great cause, and the goods outweigh the bad.

Great cause, but dots?

As a muscian and someone who has family in the Gulf Coast, this purchase went without debate. A great cause with a great instrument. Only standard I have seen with dot inlays, and frankly it cheapens the look. Primarily made for New Orleans relief, this guitar misses the mark of style and excess the Big Easy is known for. Change the dots to traps and the hardware to gold and it would be a true collector's piece. By the way, make sure if you claim this on your taxes you only claim the difference in price from a normal epi standard. Maybe that's why this is called a standard instead of the studio it more closely resembles. All in all, get this guitar! It will make you feel good, and help others.

Nice Guitar

I can definately get a better guitar for the price. However, I really like the motivation behind producing this guitar. FWIW, I am no fan of Edge or U2. I find it a little tough to play; my hands just don't move up and down the neck as easily as with the other guitars I have. As I have worked with it a little, I have become used to it, but it is still a relief to go back to a Fender Strat after playing this. The pickups have a really nice sound however, and as I got this because I wanted a guitar with more of a Gibson sound, this instrument suits my needs very well. The guitar is very lightweight, and thus easy on the shoulder.

It is a beautiful instrument to look at, and all in all I am very happy with the purchase. I was going to get an regular Epi Les Paul, but the charitable nature of this instrument, along with a nicer sound and very pleasing aesthetics leave me very happy that I purchased this one instead.

I have had mine about 3 months now and I had said I would keep it like new but i love it so much i play it every day, the sound is amazing, I am a huge fan of u2 and the edge's guitar playing and i am overjoyed to be able to own the very guitar he has endorsed and to help the wonderful people of the Gulf Coast. I live in the United Kingdom, thank you for shipping it over to me so well secured.
